No we are saying you don't even duct tape the holes either. You just leave them plugged with ployfil. Duct taping them causes a stagnant situation. The point of the method is to stop this anerobic environment from favoring bacteria which in turn opens up your tub to molds, etc.

1. scratch the cabinet. We want the light. It will give better yeilds. Not direct light. This gets applied during fruiting. Just normal background lighting, aka ambient lighting.
Once the tub hits 100%.... Flood them! They will explode.
These are the kind of pinsets you get w/o a casing with This method/. *
2. Either get some clear trash bags from home depot or wrap the MSG in saran wrap to keep the humidity in. Then you will get the ambient light that we are talking about and retain the moisture you need. You can even put a couple slits in the sides and won't have to "burp" it.
I'11 bet ya ten bucks it comes out better and your yield is higher. I'll even overnight you the dough if I'm wrong.
Run 3 MSG's... run a placebo w/o bag, one with a black bag, and one with saran wrap or clear bag. Run them all out of the cabinet.
Its worth a shot. The worst that can happen is you'll need to dunk it. I know with your experience you won't lose it or anything.....
Just wrap it up like a pallet.
Oh yea, You will notice you save 5 days or so on the grow cycle time-line. Just a heads up.

I am alway soooo stoned. Thats pic was taken in the AM. I forgot to mention that I plug them back up over night sometimes .... very lightly if the batch is a little dry which that one was. I took the pic right before I walked through and pulled out the poly in the morning.

This pic was taken when I used to unplug one hole.
Now I do two. But like I said if things are a little drier than I like I stuff it back up over night and make sure to mist.

Man, you're all over the place!
I think all this plugging/unplugging business is more work than I'd want.
...I'm definitely gonna try it, however I'm gonna wait until there are more bins in my 'cultivation closet' you could say. Right now, it's just too lonely.
Whatever yields me 8-9oz dry on the first flush is a good method for me!
...ideally with no work past making up the bins and then harvesting.

I seriously doubt this. Colonize in 5-7 days instead of 10-14? And besides, 6qt tubs are taped, doesn't matter if they are in or out.
Also,

But I'll try a clear bag for MSGs for a while, see if I notice anything.

I was thinking that may be the case. I bet you still see an improvement though.
If anything you will save a little loot. The clear bags are cheaper too

Man, I live less than 100 miles away from you. So, like, pretty much the same environment.
I go from spawning to bulk, to full colonization in 7 days or less, with almost exactly a 1:4 spawn:bulk ratio.
It's the shit!
I doubt the light has that much to do with it, although it probably helps via circadian rhythm. I think the real culprit is the massive fresh air exchange.

Side note- upon removing the bag (if used), I turn it inside out to dry, then fill with trash. No waste.
Hey, completely unrelated question: Substrate temp as an indicator of colonization progress... Story: I'm looking at testing the myth that jars can heat themselves up over room temp.
Before jars, I used a tub, because I know they can do it. Stuck a tub inside a styrofoam cooler with a temp probe lead, and the readout outside.
Well, I got up to about 72F, in a home that rarely gets to 70. So yeah there's some heat buildup, but not much.
The question: when the temp starts to drop after the peak, does that mean it's time to move to fruiting conditions?
