Does bacteria congregate and smell that badly without even being visible. I cant imagine what it smells like when the bacteria is visible things like Green mold.
Also how come when I smell my jars that are still colonizing pretty much done I cant smell a thing even the mushroom smell. Should I even be able to smell the bacteria's shit inside the jars or is that common because they are so stinky and shitting all over my jars you can smell them without opening.

That's the problem I must have used too much and it got bunched up leaving crevices for water to sneak in. Im gonna keep things below 10 jars in the future.
I was ordering Spores from Sores101 but I see they aren't a sponsor and everyone says order from sponsors. I saw SporesWorks has really good prices is their shipping pretty consistent?

ralphstersspores.com and sporworks.com are both great places you will be satisfied..
also bacterial infection has a sour, or dirty sock type smell..
trich/green mold can have a earthy dirt smell..

They had fine grade Verm, I thought I read somewhere that the more course was better, then i start going more and more through the forums and notice everyone has the fine grade verm. I get my stuff from my local Hydro Shop so hopefully it is agricultural grade verm.

Its bacterial, and I am so annoyed I am down to 9 jars, and I am wishing at least 1 makes it. I am trying to isolate the smelly ones, but it looks like they are all going to smell.
Is it possible the bacteria got right under the lid and is spreading inside of my storage container for colonizing.
So depressing I dont normally drink alcohol but I feel I need too tonight.

I agree with k00laid. Those cakes looked a bit wet. More air will help.
And the smell is definitely bacteria.
The main problem, as I see it, was not that you waited to 'noc the jars, but that you left the foil on. This allowed bacteria to grow on the lid. (still not sure of this, but it is my suspicion)
Good luck!

So moveing on, I need to forget about this gigantic failure and plan on the future.
I am going to have my tonsils out in two weeks Its a good thing. But I was checking out the Rye Berry bags from everything mushrooms and they look like a good buy. Now with a three pound bag of Rye Berries how many cc's of spores do you inject.
And how simple is it to do a casing, pardon my ignorance I am trying to figure all of this out.
I see people talking about 50/50 casing with cow poo and vermiculite. And some with Coconut husk stuff, peatmoss, gypsum, and verm or maybe it was poo dont recall.
Anyways whats the easiest method to do a casing, I dont really have access to cow poo and horse poo. I can get some Guano from my hydro shop is that a good substitute. But I like the price on these berries and the fact they come sterilized is great cause I dont have a PC.
And are casings anymore difficult to take care of I already have seen they produce alot more.

I sprayed them right before I took the pic they aren't like that all the time.
I think you are right after I sterilized the jars leaving the foil on was worthless the holes were taped up so taking the foil off shouldn't have increased any chance for a contamination to take place. Next time I wont make that same mistake, but I wont be able to sterilize some jars for a little bit.

The consensus seems to be that casing soil layers have the effect of increasing first flushes, but not overall yield.
You do not have to case cubes, but I usually do because I like some of the other effects of casing layers. They have the effect of buffering the substrate against the misting that I give it, and help make good fruiting conditions at the surface of the substrate.
Good luck,
JD

Dude don't case with manure. Or even coir. Casing layers are supposed to be non nutritious. 50-50 is peat moss mixed with vermiculite.

QFT
Peat+verm+something to raise the pH slightly == excellent casing soil
It is the lack of nutrition that tells the fungus to fruit....or that is the legend.

I will be posting some pictures later, but I dont have any pins poping up. Could I have been spraying too much or is the GT cube notorious for pining slow.

So some good news, the cake I just put into my FC a couple of days ago is pining, I think?
It had two really small pins on it in the jar, I left them on it one of them is poping up and has gotten much larger but the other is on the bottom still is that ok, should I try and give it some space to pop out?

And on that same cake there seems to be my first pin forming is this correct it just poped up overnight and doesn't have any cap color yet but its definitely not verm and is a nice lump.

The rest haven pined yet but over the past two days I started misting less, I felt theyw ere over saturated so I am just giving them a light mist 3 times a day and fanning around 5 or 6 times a day. So hopefully the other cakes will catch on soon enough.

So whats next, I want to harvest them when their veils break correct, do I harvest all at once or do I pick them off as they mature?
Am I going to have a small flush on that one cake because I left that pin on it, I dont understand how the flushes play out. Do they happen over a couple of weeks then you dunk again? Or do I pick them until they stop pining and dunk again?
Thanks for all your help.
