The idiots in congress can't settle on a budget, and since one wasn't passed last year, when the temporary budget expires on Friday, the whole government is going to shut down.
Nice job, morons.

it's not really going to shut down. it's just going to be much slower.

It already moves at the slowest of slows. Your scenario is indistinguishable from shut down.

what government are you comparing it to in order to determine relative speed in which it operates?

Who says it has to be relative to other governments? How about relative to the lifespan of a human being. Nothing ever changes.

Not true! The brave government has outlawed -atleast- 50 different substances in the last 30 years...
We've also orchestrated maybe 10-20 revolutions/overthrows/coups and invaded a few handfuls of countries... if that ain't gettin' shit done than what is?

Nice job, morons.
Government shut down in the 90s, twice. And that was the best decade (economicaly) we've had since the roaring 20s [my opinion]

so, it's slow relatively compared to human lifespan...
how?
I dunno the last time you tried to get over 400 people to agree to do something, or even 100. serving 300 million people ain't an easy job.
maybe government would work faster if there were fewer of us.

I admire the Republicans for trying to get spending under control after the neocons spent us into the stone age, but cutting all these social programs is a small drop in the bucket compared to defense spending and projected costs of social security, things that neither party seems willing to gut- or even talk about.

its the republicans who were opposing the military cuts, they were all gravy to cut other shit that people don't pay them to defend. Fucking politics.
