north bay strolls
    #14025591 - 02/25/11 01:45 PM (13 years, 8 days ago)

Hey all, just wanted to share some love from recent outings. I'm a noob, so my guesses are totally scratch-the-surface speculation. Any corrections are, of course, appreciated. Enjoy!

Tremella sp.

Morchella sp. in the backyard!

Pluteus sp. with a cool "barber pole" stem!

Clavulina cristata

Amanita var. alba

Peziza sp.

Some tiny deadlies!

Tubaria sp.

some super cool violet mycelium?

not sure...

Happy Friday! :sun:

:peace:

thx dude:cool: only the second time I'm seeing them in person. is the browning/blackening normal? spores? maybe they have been there longer than I thought?

just went out and looked around some more. here's another couple... the second one looks a little more normal, yeah?

I'm pretty sure this is the same one I found here where 3 or 4 names were used, so I didn't bother listing one of my guesses. Alan called it Pholiotina rugosa, if it's the same sp. anyway...

:awesomenod: Damn ryath im seriously drooling over those backyard morels:congrats: thats such a treat to have soooooooo close to home!!!!
take em inside and let at least one cap sit on some foil overnight - then wash them and fry them with some butter in a pan= delicious :drooling:

yeah the darkening is just happening with age - prob the weather also - totally normal and just fine and dandy to eat yet!!!!

try making a print - or two!!! then you can still eat them too!!!
:mushroom2::heart: gosh we got a good 2.5months till they start popin around here - - - - - - -and i say make a print cuz you probably have a special woodloving type of morel too:wow: one that could actually be spread to other chip piles:hotidea:

yes Conocybe filaris = Pholiotina rugosa

I guess Conocybe filaris is the outdated name.

That's awesome - I just learned to crochet and made my girlfriend a scarf for her birthday. I'd like to find some good dye-pigment fungi and dye my own yarn.

Cheers Ryath!
