i think my a.d.d. and impatience is kicking in again =( but heregoes. so, should i wait till they all open up fully or pick em as soon as the veil starts to tear. i read some places that say they are more potent if ya get em a little early but on the otherhand alot of pics i see the caps are fully open and some even starting to curl upwards. i may try collecting spores from a few caps but for the most part i was hoping to be enjoying the fruits of my labor tomorrow nite. well if the veils are beginning to tear that is, but its starting to look like some are seperating now so i figure maybe by tomorrow night? so does picking as veils are tearing a good idea or should i just take a ritalin and wait lol

You want to let several open wide enough to get prints. Get those caps on clean foil and covered with a tub or something, then harvest the rest of the cake at that time. Pick all the mushrooms, but leave pins, those will start to develop as your second flush.

hey doc, so i been reading around about making syringes. so it seems all i really need to do is collect spores in a sterile fashion,ie. maybe toothpicks through the top of the cap holding the cap over a sterile shotglass in my glovebox maybe, and suck some boiling water in a syringe and let cool in a sterile environment like the gb, then shoot the cooled sterile water into the shotglass full of spores and suck it back up, maybe wipe the needle w/ alcohol and cap it till im ready to use it? would that be accurate, or at least work or would that be too many spores in 1 syringe? i read a few different teks, i just wanna make sure i got the basic principal down? the reason for the shotglass instead of foil is i wouldnt know how to transfer it off the foil sterily other than maybe into a glass in a gb. so would skipping the foil and going right into the glass be effective ya think or am i taking way too many steps for something that can be simplified?

Always flame needles, don't wipe them. One print is too much for one syringe. 10 or more syringes from a regular print. Foil is great for storing prints for later. To prep fresh syringes, that suspension thing would work fine.

ahh i got ya, and im guessing ya can store the foil/print in an airtight container in the fridge. same place i store the syringes. and if i only had 1 syringe i can just use a little scrape of the spores and wrap it back up and put it back in the fridge. also would i need to do it all in a glove box or somewhere sterile. im guessing yeah lol.

Store them in an envelope in a drawer. Yep, a few spores into a shotglass in a glovebox.
But the better plan is this: Buy a pressure cooker, even a little one. Then do spores->agar. And look around for syringes, veterinary places and farm supply stores have them.

i have a question that i been wondering for quite some time now. will a contaminated brf cake produce any fruits at all? i only ask so i know for 100% sure if what im eating is good and not gonna kill me lol. i know the ones i have growing now are good because the stem turned blue where it was bruised. from what i know or at least think i know, only psilocybin will do that. and i know if its black or green pink or orange in the jar to just throw the whole thing out, but if theres a little yellowish or like a bacterial infection will fruits still grow or is a contaminated cake of anykind doomed to not produce anything but mold?

kickass solo-grow! looks awesome!
if I'm not mistaken, sometimes BRF cakes can keep producing with infections, but that's just not something you want happening...especially if you have multiple cakes in an FC. nothing you eat from that cake is going to kill you. I wouldn't recommend taking large bites of the actual cake though
and FYI, the blueing comes from psilocin oxidizing

Even if the cake is contaminated with mold the fruits are safe to consume. If the fruits have bacterial contams that's another story.
