Straw Contam Fruits?
    #14024548 - 02/25/11 09:29 AM (12 years, 11 months ago)

So I wanted to try a straw tek, but I didn't have any wbs so I used some B+ pf cakes and used a roughly 2"X8" plastic pitcher and laid about 5" of it. I think it was a combination of that and cold temperatures caused it to colonize slowly. It took over a month to colonize. The surface is somewhere like ~80-90% colonized, but about 50-75% of the remaining portion has turned a darker, almost gray color as opposed to the tan of the wet straw. I'm worried that this is contamination. It doesn't have a bad smell or anything.
Today, I noticed that it has already started pinning, and they look like healthy fruits. Since they were fruiting on the sides, I "birthed" the straw block and put it into an FC.
Are these fruits safe to eat?
