Keeping

Well just flipped over my first MSG, and it prolly had more then half the first flush on the bottom, and half of those are still long pins. I believe this is because of a dry substrate. Not because of the absence of a liner bag or taping/painting the sides.( I have liner and taped )

Just for convenience, I want to figure out how I can prevent this the most, or, work with it. Whatever's the easiest.

Since it's winter, things are pretty dry where I am. 25-35%. Would simply getting a humidifier in the room help with this? Or just misting more often/heavy to keep it all around well hydrated? Both?

Or I could look into building a martha/greenhouse and throw the substrate in there on the 2nd flush. Or would a basic SGFC be enough to get it through the second flush.

At the moment it's on its side, waiting for the final veils to break. Also to see if the bottom pins will take off with increase of FAE. Then it's time to get her wet, and play the waiting game again for a week or so.

So would just keeping it more hydrated help the bottom pinning? Or is it inevitable? Thanks much!:pipesmoke:

I find it's partly genetic, some sublines do it a lot more than others under identical conditions.
But yeah, if you can keep surface humidity up, that will help. Wax paper maybe.

Yeah I have been using wax paper. My top pinset was pretty good I must say, but still just amazed me how many were still on the bottom. (Just noticed my awesome title for this thread ha..ops)

What's an MSG?  I really wish you guys would spell things out so the rest of us know what you're talking about.

If there was fresh air on the bottom of the tub, it will stimulate pinning down there.

Haha sorry RogerRabbit I know I read in another post of yours yellin' at us to spell things out haha. Yes but what Doc said.

I didn't have drain holes or anything on the bottom of the tub, I did do manually fanning though. I suppose that would be enough force to put fresh air down there eh?
