I have one more tub to make and I have run out of verm and perlite. Can I just use straight coir and if so what kind of result should I expect?

That's an interesting question.
Verm add minerals and holds moisture, and leaving it out will probably not help the yield, but I have to think that the spawn will still enjoy eating it.
Good luck,

I do it. I get fruits the length of my arm. I also get just as good results as I do with hpoo.don't know why the hell every 1 slams it

I usually use coir as my main bulk sub with perlite or vermerculite to hold moister. I will note that I had a increase in yield using perlite instead of verm. But I've run out of both so I was wondering if I could just use coir alone? Will it decrease yield due to the substance holding water not being there?

I've never had a problem.just dunk inbetween flushes.coir holds moisture like a champ

There are better substrates but straight coir works fine. Also the chances of contamination are almost zero.

off of a 2:1 coir/wbs block that started in a tub, roughly 3 quarts of sub. i got 156 wet grams off the first flush and about 170 wet grams of the second.. i dunked it for a while yesterday to see if i can get a flush 3 since the second flush gave me a 40 wet gram monster fruit.
but yea absolutely no contams at all yet an its straight uncased coir.

The fact is that if you have good genetics (and correct fruiting conditions) then you will have lots of mushrooms anyway. No matter what kind of substrate you use (horse manure, sheep manure, chicken manure, straight coir, coir+verm, coir+verm+coffee, brf+verm etc), as long as your substrate is nutritious. Genetics. I know, it's sad but it's true.
