Albino A+ pinning! My first grow!
#14022054 - 02/24/11 07:42 PM (12 years, 11 months ago) |

Spores were Albino A+ from sporeworks and it is MS from a syringe. I inoculated 4 quart jars of rye and spawned to a 27 qt tub (MSG style) with 1 brick coco coir (husk, not using again), 2 quart vermiculite, 1 pint gypsum, and 1 gallon water. Had the tub in a bag for 2 week and these pictures are at seven days of fruiting conditions.
I have a 6500K light above the tub going 12/12 and a humidifier running every 40 minutes. The light is a fixture I rigged up and I put the cover back over the light. I notice some of my pins are growing sideways, would it be better to take the cover off the fixture and have the light shining directly from the bulb? I'm thinking it just might be because of the uneven nature of coco husk.
Super excited to see my first pins ever!! I have another tub of Golden Treacher in a bag waiting to fruit as soon as it is fully colonized.
Thanks everyone on this forum for the help so far, Shroomery is the tits!

JD
Thanks! Its not a casing layer. I actually had the tub in the bag for almost 3 weeks. I layered my spawn and I put too much substrate on top of the last layer. I don't like the husk and I ordered some proper coir that arrived this week
Some more pics, I am so pumped!

Updated: 10 days of fruiting conditions.
I woke up this morning to one side of the tub looking suspicious with a little greenish overlay and an area that looks too white.
Please help! What is this?

Can I harvest what I have? Should I do it immediately and dump the tub?

you can make a thick salt paste, and put over the infected area..that'll slow it down enough to get your flush over with...but i wouldn't keep it around other tubs, or in an area you're going to be using to grow later on..

I think I'm just going to harvest what I have right now and dump it. Damnit! I have another tub that is coming out of the bag in a few days.
I think my problem was the substrate was not colonized enough before fruiting. Stupid coco husk.
Thanks for the help

Dump it somewhere outside and cover it with compost or something and you might get a pleasant surprise later after a rain.

I thought 3 weeks colonizing in a garbage bag would be enough? It's all about learning I'll get this right!

your substrate looked a bit too dry so it pretty much stopped colonizing. I think its more of a substrate issue than time issue

Thanks for the heads up, I noticed when I did damions coir tek, there was a fair amount of water in the bottom of the bucket when was loading the substrate into the tub. Again, its probably because of the coco husk.
I have another tub with the husk in it and I prepped it the same way. Should I mist it down really well when it comes out of the bag? I'll make sure not to bring it to fruiting conditions until it is almost 100% colonized.

That's if you live somewhere that isn't covered with 2 feet of snow at the moment; like me

Update:
Tub is trashed but i was able to harvest 140grams of pins/aborts/small fruit. Took 40 grams throughout the night last night and had an absolute amazing experience.
I am on break from school so yesterday I made some tea and sipped it on my porch while watching the Arizona sun go down in about 70F weather. I took one capsule of ginger, another capsule opened in the tea, fasted for 3 hours, and strained out the tea before drinking. I felt no nausea (just some flatulence) which usually strikes me pretty fiercely. I usually have a come up riddled with a few anxious moments but last night it was a smooth ride as I sipped my tea over 30 minutes.
It was fantastic. I was wearing my headphones and was completely lost in my mind. When the sun finally set I was in my house by myself dancing like a madman to some of my favorite music. The experience was so different than any other trip! I was full of energy and euphoria and as the music would move me, I found my mind would ease its way around my subconscious and work through any questions that may arise.
My revelation for the evening was: "Always, always ask yourself why!" I have never before felt my level of conscious awareness of EVERYTHING to expand in the way it did. Everything made sense and I had the answers for every question that seemed to come to fruition.
I just want to give a big hug to everyone out on this forum! There is true value in the psychedelic experience and it is definitely not something to just get "smashed" on to forget about life. This experience made me ready to push myself a little deeper next time.
So I will part with a little Jersey Shore FIST PUMP! I have golden treacher in my next tub and I will get at least one flush before contam
