Cloning Last Fruiting Mushroom...

Hello my fellow mycophiles,
I'm curious if anyone has attempted cloning the last fruiting mushroom of a batch in order for future generations to have an increased rate and frequency of flushes. My logic is that the last fruiting mushroom is the most capable of using the remaining nutrients in the substrate. Perhaps by selectively propagating the last surviving mushroom, one could also increase resilience and lead to quicker fruiting periods as well.
Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.
Thanks,
octopie.

Have you tried cloning the last fruit?

Here we clone the very early, healthy fruits that occur in clusters.
That way we know the fruits like and respond to the environment we have provided.
If we can duplicate those conditions, we will have quick fruiting, healthy, gregarious crops.
Simply stated; we will get more of what we want quicker.
Good luck. Interesting idea.

not trying to be a dick, but it would be a hypothesis...
theories are widely accepted, highly experimented, and scientifically backed up
to the OP, I think you should run a batch, clone a nice, juicy one from the 1st flush and then try this last-fruiter idea you've got. run 2 new tubs/MSG's or w/e with the same sub and see what happens.

Thanks for the encouragement, I'll definitely test out this hypothesis. I'll have the results posted in a couple of months. I encourage anyone else who is curious to try it as well, who knows maybe we'll all be surprised by what happens. Maybe not.
The idea came to me because last summer, I did a spore print of one of the last mushrooms out of a batch, and the future generations gave me about 8 flushes on popcorn substrate. They weren't whoppers though, just nice average sized fruits. I presume cloning the last mushroom might give me similar if not better results.
I'll keep everyone posted.

The last mushroom is the last one you would want to clone. You want fresh, young cell lines from a small, rapidly growing mushroom on first flush for best performance from cloning.
Taking a print from the 200th flush will still be the same genetics as first flush. Taking a clone is a whole different animal. RR

You're right, it makes sense to clone the first one of the batch. However, sometimes I like doing counter intuitive experiments in hopes of unexpected results.
