Okay so maybe none of you give a fuck, but Boeing knows what's up when it comes to getting what they want from the government.
-Big, flashy, less versatile/conservative but most wasteful (and thereby impressive) design.
-Have the facilities (largest building on the planet Earth, b-t-dubs)
-Give the government asscrackloads of money

It's complete bullshit, but when it's your bread source you just don't care.
I figure most everything is this fucked by corporate greed by now anyway, so might as well give the larger amount of work to be done, you know.
And realistically, these massive tankers will extend our air superiority by a lot, but it just becomes a question of where the fuck you land a flying brick the size of the Empire State building in fucking Iran.

I'm not sure I'm following your logic.
This is going to mean jobs for Americans and tax revenue in many forms for local, state, and federal government.
I would rather our tax money go to an American company using American labor than to the French.

The group that does the military weapon design is still 100% American? Or so i thought. Or hoped, or something. That building the planes come out of is definitely here, too. I mean, it's pretty hard for the French to take that from us lolololol.

Id like to support Boeing for their being American and all and was a boeing fan before an airbus fan but Airbus has some damn good designs.

It's an Air Force contract. It goes back like 10 years. Boeing won, then got in trouble for something, lost the bid, they appealed, and today won out over EADS of which Airbus is a division.
I don't know much about the details at all, but with like 9.5 unemployment and having our manufacturing jobs leave this country at a high rate, I'm all for a little protectionism of American companies.
