Could I grow in my polly tunnel?

I've got a 15'x8' polly tunnel that I'm thinking of using to grow some oysters.
Good idea? Any reasons why it would'n work ? How much could I grow in that space?
Growing in the UK by the way.

Yes you can. But insulate it: min 100mm of loft insulation on the outside (npower are virtually giving the stuff away) and another plastic cover over the top of that.
Change your oyster strain to suit the temps, install the usual environmental controls. How much depends on the format(logs/bags/crates)and how inventive your racking/hanging is. - Stuff some tubes with newspaper and try it out!

You mean cover the whole tunnel in insulation? I thought that the natural light would be a good thing.

If you want to grow all year round, yes - insulate.
A proper mushroom poly tunnel has around 300mm/12" of insulation on it! Use controllable lighting/heating/humidity for controllable results.
You can try grow in the tunnel as is or with a bit of bubble wrap on it, but it might be a very short growing season, depending on where you live and what you grow. Also when it is colder outside than inside you will have difficulty with humidification due to the condensation on the inside surface.
I have a little greenhouse to insulate at the moment ....

From what I saw in the UK when I was there, shiitake can probably grow outdoors without an enclosure for most of the year. I put all my spent substrates outdoors for a few extra flushes, and when the temps are down to -5C at night and only 10C during the day, they're still fruiting. Once it gets much colder than that, they'll stop until spring. RR
