you're not getting in, sorry bud.

really any career that is stable even with recessions is a good one.  The medical field is great (if you love medicine, if not don't bother since it isn't worth it), policing (say what you want), and research/design are perfect

I've thought about lecturing some classes.  The first few years would be hard, but once you had the lectures down, only minimal changes would happen.

Professors at my undergrad probably made 60-70 for working a few hours a day 8 months a year.  Not shabby if ya ask me.

Yea, but those professors were researchers also right?  I find it hard to believe that a lecturer would make that much, even at the end of their career.  It would sure be nice!, but I would be willing to do it for half of that pay.  Its a pretty competitive job to get, but you know that.

Food Industry is solid even in recession.  People gotta eat.  Also the food companies are always "innovating" by making up new foods you never knew you wanted.

With an undergrad in food science (specialties include chem, biochem, micro, culinary, marketing, etc.) you make 40-50K.  With a Masters you're lookin at 50-70K to start.  Easy six figures with a PhD and 2-3 years of experience.  The field is little known and extremely varied.  You can do anything from research to sales.  Job placement is close to 100% out of undergrad.

Medical or law enforcement are pretty much what's stable right now, with a decent salary.

That's the difference being a professor at a "teaching school".  The primary responsibility is to teach.

You are correct though, that some level of research is expected.

still depends on the area.  Camden laid off half of its police force and a LOT of the fire (they handle EMS).  They're rehiring some of the police part time since the public outcry (ITS FUCKING CAMDEN) but the fire guys aren't even getting rehired.

Still no problems finding good paying jobs with a BS.
There are tons of small time Mom and Pop type "small" companies (10 employees or less) out there that probably took a hit.  What are "food establishments" anyway?  Does this include restaurants?  If so, your numbers are skewed and not in line with what I'm talking about.

But, overall there are more jobs than people to fill them.  Also, with the creation of the new oversight agency, there are going to be plenty more govt jobs in addition to the USDA, & FDA jobs already available.

I wouldn't be a cop either, but I'd go into Guard work ( prisons, jails, etc )

My uncle makes like 70,000 a year.

I'd become a cop, why the hell not? Keep one more badge out of the hands on a retard.

I'm getting my degree in the health field, supposed to grow by 27% by 2016 and all our grads arent having any problems finding jobs.

My plan is marine corps. trying to become an officer, if not, enlist then do that till I get tired, get my masters, then either teach health and fitness shit at a college/uni or be a health/fitness instructor.  AVG. salary is 52k

Who knows though, I feel like I'm doing everything right and I'll have many nice options down the road in my future  I'm not worried one bit.

edit: 27 not 2%
