Ive seen bits and pieces walking through a room, and hanging out somewhere. Looks like a long ass story, I just havent dedicated the time to sit dowm and get it over with. I told this to a buddy...it looked like his head was about to explode. He just couldnt comprehend it

You really should see them. I was like this for a long time and one day I just rented all three of them and over the course of the next week watched them all.
But I think I need to re-watch them because there's so much to take in.

.... They're pretty fuckin good movies. I read the books so I saw all the movies when they came out in theatre, and I'm a little appalled you haven't even seen ONE!
The story is pretty long, but it's not too complicated. Bad ring, ring needs to get destroyed, world is gonna end if it doesn't, lots of bad ass fighting in between.
I definitely suggest you smoke a few bowls and watch the first one. I don't see how you could be disappointed.

It's all good, I haven't seen the original Star Wars trilogy. Some of my friends think this is a ridiculous.

I think I'm the only person that can't fucking stand to watch Lord of the Rings OR Star Wars. I get completely bored, I need something grounded in reality.

yet you're on a shroom forum...the ultimate dissociation from reality. Science Fiction is fun because it's just that...fiction. The ideas might be futuristic and a little ridiculous but that's why they're good. They're grand tales. I am disappointed by your lack of appreciation for creativity.

I might get around to it some day. Every time I try to watch the first one I end up getting side tracked. Ill pop back in to the movie...and Im lost. After that I give up and put it off to another day...

Meh, I'm not a fan of either, myself.

I don't find them all that creative, more like fantasy operas (to play on space opera).
I like gritty scifi, like Bladerunner, and things that make my brain buzz.
Then again, I could be carrying over prejudices from Star Wars (which I have seen the original trilogy of) to LOTR, which I only saw one installment of.

Ehh, I haven't watched a lot of movies. I gave up my TV 5 years ago and haven't looked back since. Haven't seen Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, or any other popular/potentially awesome movies since I did this. I'm pretty media ignorant, and I prefer it that way.

Not having a TV is pretty awesome.
When I moved in with one friend, we never had a TV hooked up, though I did have a friend nearby who'd let me watch a film whenever on his set.
I read a LOT more.

I appreciate creativity fine, just in other forms.
I can't relate to Star Wars or LOTR.

Yeah, it is kind of hard to sit through long movies like that. I ended up pausing mine and going and doing something else and coming back to it the next day or a few days later. I got lost too, which is why my memory is kind of murky and I feel like I should re-watch them.

I just don't understand! Okay you must understand I grew up with star wars, so the memories attached with these movies just trigger some crazy deep seated emotion in me. What is bad about them? Great characters, interesting story, good duels, plot twists, and ok how badass of a weapon is the lightsaber? Can cut through fuckin anything...the force, yoda, chewbacca, it's SO FUCKING QUALITY.
I might just watch one now to reassure myself of their quality. Probably the first one (IV) before mark hamills face got fucked up

And another thing is like, how I said about movies grounded in reality, I know what technology exists and the rules of the physical universe so I like the familiarity of it all. I don't like so-and-so pulling out some futuristic piece of technology to act as a deus ex machina, or likewise some magical power that acts in the same way. It leaves me going "ohhh, well if I had known THAT was possible..."
Ya feel? Different strokes. I also did not grow up with it.
I will admit that lightsavers are bad-ass indeed, though.
