Exactly! Why would I WANT that? Idk...I guess nothing is easier for me to grasp than infinity. Seriously, FOREVER?! No thank you. I don't NEED to exist forever. Why? What's the point?
Just like you say, there will be no "you". "You" will have no idea you've even died. That will be peace IMO
i would think that you would need to have a consciousness in order to experience peace, right?

as i said before, our consciousness is a precious gift. we can think, we can react, we can do more shit inside and outside our heads than is logically necessary and it fucking rocks. who would want to give that up?
I don't want to give up my life, and I plan on living for as long as possible. Life is amazing and I appreciate every second of it, because I realize that any second could be my last. I could wake up tomorrow and get hit by a car and die, and that would fucking suck, but if it happens...I won't be any the wiser. I'll be nothing, and I've come to terms with that. It doesn't scare me, and if I'm wrong then I guess I'm in for a nice surprise, huh?
Of course you would choose consciousness. People are SO attached to themselves that they don't stop and realize how insignificant "THEY" are. I do. So, while I'm here, I'm going to live life to the fullest and do everything I want. Someday (and I'm sure you will find this as you get older) you will probably be looking forward to death. Existence gets old after a while

Maybe he means incomprehensible peace. The impermanent-ness of life makes it so much more enjoyable. Anyone else would get bored and it would lose its luster.

The only reason it's hard to understand is because for our entire lives, there is something. There's always something, so we assume there will always be something. WE will cease, everything else will exist.
Exactly.
Remember before you were born?
Neither do I.

I just mean that nothingness will be what people describe as peace. There's no "you" to experience the nothing, so what more could you ask for? There's no more worry, or sadness, or anger, or happiness, or feeling...NOTHING. It can't be bad, because nothing doesn't exist. We won't exist, we will be nothing.

i'm perfectly ok with being attached to myself. i'm pretty damn significant in MY world. for example, i'm significant enough to be able to experience something as wonderful as psychedelics; that makes me pretty damn special. i dont think existance will ever get old. there are so many possibilties, be it in the "real" world or in your head.

So your saying we know what peace is? If peace is what you said than how do we know its peaceful(if no ones experience it and shared)? Peace is a word and human concept. What you say is incomprehensible(by human standards) but I understood what you mean.

idk, my definition of peace includes a bit of happiness, even if its just the happiness that comes from the knowledge that i'm at peace

when have you felt most at peace? i've had several drug-induced moments where all i could feel was peace. reading a book, listening to music, hanging with friends, all of this = peace to me. but, again, i'm FEELING. i'm EXPERIENCING. which requires a consciousness

Not quite.
I wanna be all tuckered out when I die, ready to take a permanent nap.
If I 'm not all exhausted from life, then I still feel I'll be able to accept it, because I'll have no choice.
Though I really do wanna make it to the point where it's like, "I've experienced so much... time to experience death."

if death is nothing, are you really "experiencing" death?

on really high doses of psychedelics, when experiencing ego death was probably the closest I've ever felt to what I would call "peace". That feels like death to me, because the "you" part essentially ceases to exist and "you" become everything. Kinda like that feeling...without all the visuals

Yeah that's what I want too. Where I can look back on my life and say I did everything I wanted to do. Everything that life has to offer, because you're only here once! or maybe I'll turn into a ghost

how can you become part of everything when death is nothing but an off switch? when you're on a high dose of a psychedelic you're still experiencing, you still have a consciousness that is being bent over and shown where the wild goose goes. there's a sizeable difference between ego-death and death-death.

dude you're just not getting me... i KNOW it's different, but you asked what I thought peace was, and feeling like absolutely nothing, like you've died, was pretty peaceful so all I'm saying is that I have no problem being dead and there being absolutely nothing. I will just be erased from existence, like I was never even here. That's fine with me.

i understand what you're saying, i just dont think you've actually felt like absolute nothing-ness. i understand that you've had your ego torn to shreds and all but i still dont think that constitutes experiencing "nothing". however, to each their own. as long as you're happy not a fuck should be given about what i think, right?

I didn't say I'd experienced nothing, but ego death was the closest I've come to feeling like nothing. Hahah, it's such a paradox, you can't feel nothing, but i can certainly imagine it, and accept it as my fate after death. I just don't have any desire to continue on. I see no point in continuing. If there was a heaven, then there is a hell, but I think these ideas of life after death are just people's fantasies because they can't accept nothing. I also think heaven & hell are just tools of the church to attract members because more people = more cash for the church, and what better promise than eternal bliss and existence? And better yet, if you DON'T believe and pay them money, you're going to burn for eternity! Gah, religion is just bullshit. You live and you die, then there's nothing.
I'm really high
