    #14017621 - 02/24/11 12:33 AM (13 years, 10 days ago)

so i found out i was not supposed to let the shrooms sporulate. now several of the cakes stopped producing pinheads. i washed the cakes and peeled off the damaged layer. do you think this might work jumpstarting the cake?

Sporulating fruits are not a problem unless you are allergic or hate a mess.

I am quoting RR from the collection of his advice made by dumbfounded1600

"There is some evidence that a heavy spore drop will inhibit future flushes. In addition, it makes a terrible mess, and furthermore it makes the fruits taste even worse than they normally would. Pick just before, or just after the veil breaks for best quality."

I personally have found the above to be true.

That's interesting Larry.  Thanks for sharing.

If RR says it, then I do not take it for granted.

I have been growing for prints, and so have been letting my fruits
grow out beyond veil breakage.

I will keep an open mind on this potential inhibition.

JD

it's not the fruit that's the problem, it's the cakes. i hope my solution will work.
