I can vouch for the book.  If you even partially grok it...it will change everything for you.

It's one of those things that, at least for me, I had multiple "a-ha" moments throughout.  The first third of that book was basically my first 10 trips explained by other people.  It was...surreal.

Get a gun, put it to your head. If your scared to pull it, you have death anxiety.

Yes, I am aware, I said that earlier

Says who? I mean you can talk all you want but if someone put a gun to your temple you'd probably shit your pants.

@Icelander you would probably appreciate the fecal joke considering denial of death.

just because someone doesn't want to die right now doesn't make them afraid of death.

Death anxiety doesn't necessarily refer to a conscious fear of death in this context.

it could be a sign of that, but it doesn't automatically mean so. wanting to live doesn't equal fear of death, it could just mean you want to live out your life and would rather die when its your time to.

What would constitute your "time to die?"

When it is not self willed?

So if I have you tied down to a stainless steel table and I'm about to hack you to pieces, you won't be afraid because it's your time to die? Doesn't seem quite right...

i didn't say i wasn't afraid to die, just saying it isn't logical to assume just because someone wants to live out their limited life doesn't mean there afraid to die. and i think anyone would be afraid of the pain to be hacked to pieces.

What if I told you I'd just hack straight into your forehead with a blade as sharp as shark's teeth? It won't even hurt, and it will be quick. I'll be into all the vital aspects of your brain very quickly.

Same answer most have for suicide
doesn't matter who is behind the trigger, or blade, or whatever

we don't want to die. period. in any way shape or form.
And that's the root of death anxiety because sooner or later it's gonna happen and we know it.

i didn't say anyone wants to die(except for people who commit suicide), just saying not wanting to die doesn't equal fear of death. it could just mean the person wants to live out there life seeing as how they will die shortly enough. i think i would want to die eventually though except like a thousand years later except for at most 70 now.

Right, this isn't a necessarily true implication.  Not wanting to die could be an intellectual statement of fact whereas fear of death is an emotional state.

exactly. like a daredevil may not want his next stunt to be his last, but doesn't mean he can't accept that it might be.

I see why Iceman just suggests the book

Each example you bring has ties to death anxiety even if you can't see them right now. If you want to uncover this, read Denial of Death by Ernest Becker.
