I Found some mushies...Need some help?!?
    #14015889 - 02/23/11 07:31 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

Hi all. I found these shrooms while hiking through grant ranch with my daughter today. It was a cool day in the South San Jose hills near the lick observatory. These were growing in a muddyish grasspatch on the side of the trail. Horses use the trail often so there is plenty of dung around but I didn't notice these growing directly out of any of it.

I'm fairly new to the world of magic mushies and I was told that this is the best community to join if I want to become more acquainted. If anyone has the expertise to identify these I would surely appreciate it. Thanks. I can't wait to become a contributing member of the shroomery.

Oh ya. There were a ton of these same ones all over the place. I only grabbed a couple though. I didn't want to disturb the patch for other possible hunters before I knew what they were.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I'm in the process of studying up on mycology so I can start to identify on sight. So many kinds...so little time.

I was going to try to get away with calling it Agrocybe praecox but Leratiomyces percevalii is a better guess.
