Not again

The bulk of allied casualties in the first Gulf war were caused by american friendly fire. Looks like the sequel is on the way:

An RAF aircraft is missing, following reports that it was hit by an American missile.

A Ministry of Defence spokesman at Central Command in Qatar said it had been returning from a mission over Iraq.

It was not yet known what type of aircraft was involved or how many crew were on board, although a search for survivors is underway.

It is thought the plane was brought down by a US Patriot anti-missile system stationed in the Gulf to protect Kuwait and coalition forces stationed there.

Group Captain Al Lockwood, chief spokesman for the British forces, said the aircraft had been returning from operations when the accident happened.

He said: "Evidence is beginning to come to light that it was engaged by a US Patriot missile battery."

It appeared that the plane had been shot down, he said.

i don't think the pentagon wants to attribute any of the coalition's losses to iraqi resistence. this would only boost the morale of the iraqi troops. therefore, 90% of losses are reported as accidents always being the fault of the coalition. here is an interesting report that seems to have been buried. or maybe i just haven't seen it in the mainstream media yet.

"Four U.S soldiers were killed yesterday in central Iraq, according to a reporter from Britain's Sky TV who was travelling with them. Journalist Colin Brazier said the reconnaissance scouts were ambushed while driving Humvee jeeps at the head of a column."

http://www.irna.com/en/head/030322225550.ehe.shtml

It was pretty weird, it was actually on CNN at about 5AM PST, right after the errant scuds first broke... then it just disappeared, there was no rebuff... just poof.. vanished

If you do some research you will notice that irna has been pretty honest and accurate in this war and the past.

here is more:

Latest news is it appears american tanks opened fire on a British TV news crew travelling in a jeep clearly marked "TV" and killed a well-known British reporter and two cameramen.

Certainly makes you wonder about their claims to take care not to kill Iraqi civilians when they can't even stop blowing fuck out of their own side.
