Samatotypes, Weight, and Tweaks
    #14012563 - 02/23/11 09:36 AM (13 years, 10 days ago)

There are 3 somatotypes. Ectomorph, Mesomorph, and Endomorph. Essentially, Skinny, Avergage, and Fat.

Lets talk about the metabolisms of these 3 samototypes.

An ectomorph has a fast metabolism and turns his food easily into energy. A mesomorph has a medium metabolism and easily turns food into lean muscle. The endomorph turns most of his intake into stored fat.

I workout 3-4 times a week. Weightlifting, Running and Swimming. I have been monitoring my body weight for the past 2 weeks and its given me an idea.

I know that when I eat a meal my metabolism will be quickened. I know that when I dont eat that my metabolism will be slowed.

My theorey, or my idea lives within the past two statements.

My goal is to gain weight. I am currently at 185 pounds. I want to get to 190. What if I tweak my metabolism. Tweak my meal times? Of course eating immediatly after a workout helps but is there more?

I notice something. When I accidentally skip a meal, wait a couple of hours, or even an entire night and then weigh in. My weight usually goes up! Like last night I fell asleep before I ate my last meal and I woke up a pound and a half heavier. What if I slow my metabolism at night time by not eating before bed And then in the morning wake up and eat a lot of food. Maybe I could add weight this way.

Though I dont know if that benifits my goals of weightlifting or not. I read that hardgainers or ectomorphs will even wake up in the middle of the night to eat a sandwhich to keep the food pumpin.

I believe the more food the better. But if I timed my meals correctly could I add pounds easier?

any input?

Food intake timing should only be a consideration if you're trying to get very low body fat and even then it's effects are arguably negligible.

just eat more

More calories in than out. Determining the factors that effect digestibility and absorption of your food would make more of a difference than timing your meals.
