God and Faith.
    #14008513 - 02/22/11 04:41 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

Faith is the most interesting concept.

in many holy books, particularly the Judeo Christian ones, it plainly says that one must have faith that the event's historically written in the bible are fact.

Faith in relation to this is believing without seeing.

The horrible part of this is that god holds all those who do not believe in him, as disbelievers.

Yet clearly, those that saw jesus with their own two eyes or had parents that saw him with their own two eyes, for example, have no need for faith.

Retrospectively faith cannot apply to someone who has seen jesus, yet clearly the god of the bible holds all those who do not believe as sinners....

its like god has given all of us a mandatory test that we all must pass, yet to the people that existed 2000 years ago, he gave to them a look at the test, to study and memorize, while he gives any who came after them, merly study materials(the bible)

i find this to be the most ridiculous part of the bible and holy texts in general....if we are all created equally and all have an equal chance of getting into hell, how come some people don't have to work for it, as they see it with their own to eyes(miracles, etc) and others(majority) have to find the answers in a historical text?????

Man, the Bible and organised religion are what a mumbling homeless retard who has just enough cognition to rape unsuspecting women would write/organise as a reaction to this experience.

Got any particular passages? I'm not real familiar with any of the biblical mentionings of faith.

I've always found the faith issue to be an interesting one...

I read somewhere, I don't remember where, that "Religion is the husk of what was one true faith."

I've always felt that way, given faith is born from direct experience. And dogmatic following and sterilized ritual are a result of the passed down wisdom and praxis of someone who had direct experiences, I.E. A mystic, holy man, healer, shaman. Someone like Christ or Buddha.
I think another good example would be the lessons we learn from the direct experience of entheogens and how their lessons often can correlate with the roots of the teachings of these religions. That direct experience, even in ourselves overtime if not revisited can become dogmatic and blinding. From my personal stand point, I can see why these forms of living spirituality become the husk of what was once true faith, religion.

That's why for one minute I don't buy into the things that the bible says below. (I'm honestly not sure if this is in the bible, but bible thumpers always say it to me regardless.)

I feel that the God portrayed in this text, should be ignored given you did not experience IT through your own faculties. I feel experience of God should be sought through ones own experiences. What is the point of believing in the wind if one has not felt it upon their own skin?

Well, I don't agree. I think the bible and its creators had different intentions in mind.

Heb 11:1 (KJV) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Rom 10:17 (NIV) Faith comes by hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.
