Why the fuck is a foreign company drilling for hydrocarbons in my country???

Even china is buying into the American shale exploration.

it's contaminating our nation's drinking water...

Quote:

Australian commodities giant BHP Billiton sat on the sidelines as major international oil companies (IOCs), independents and national oil companies (NOCs) rushed in to snap up their share of the booming US shale sector. No longer. The company agreed on February 18 to purchase US shale specialist Chesapeake Energy 's assets in the Fayetteville shale play for US$4.75bn, marking its entry into the unconventional gas sector.

Although the company probably waited too long and its decision to buy into a pure gas asset in a down market is questionable, the acquisition marks an important step forward for BHP's petroleum business. Shale and other unconventional gas segments such as tight gas and coal-bed methane (CBM) will play an increasingly important role in the future of the oil and gas industry, and if BHP wants to compete with global oil and gas companies it will need shale technology and project expertise. This acquisition takes the company in that direction, and we expect to see BHP make more unconventional gas acquisitions in either the US or its home market, Australia.

It is about fracking, and while it may be a drop in the bucket, it should be the tipping point.

The water tables are not being poisoned. The tight shale that is being frac'd is thousands of feet below water tables.  Fracing has been practiced for 60 years and the liberal media is just now all over it.

I will debunk every claim that fracing is a bad practice.

What I'm frustrated with is the misinfo coming from the environmentalist groups.  There are risks, but lies will not help minimize the true risks.

Still fracing companies have begun using greener chemicals that have fewer environmental consequences than before, and that is if there is an unlikely accident.

We have the ability to reduce our dependance on foreign oil, why can't we improve the processes and develop our domestic recources?
