So im reading about agar cultures-you know "minding my own business"- when all of the sudden my mind is poisoined with this terrible terrible idea of Making my own agar plates!!! So there i am crushing kibble adding agar crystals Noticing how much shit is on the bottom of these jars! Into the PC they Go!! Now im getting nervous. . So i close all my windows and reduce airflow in my house to near nothing. I pop open my oven set her on 200 and get ready to pour the dishes. Timer is up! Now its game time. i pull out the jars (noticing how they are still seperated) and realize how they are HOT and they are going to be like that for a long time. So im sittin on my ass putzing around meanwhile the oven has turned my apartment into a freakin sauna! Jesus christ. alright this is where i decide that im a man. I got my shitty little roll of saran wrap (that i somehow managed to decapitate from the rest of the roll), ive got my oven going, ive got my sterile bag-o-petri dishes, and ive got these hands that for some reason thinks that they can withstand the temperature of these burning jars! So i mix up the shiznit ass best i can and pop open these babies (Oh yeah i washed my hands too) i pour the dishes using that "grab three and start with the bottom one" thing and im thinking to myself " This isnt so bad I can do this Im a PRO" Now comes the shitty part. Ive got my three dishes im park in front of my suana/oven and im like "How the fhell do i seal these thingas? " This is when i break out in a profuse sweat-im talking full on FACE CONDENSATION. Im trying to wrap thses things and it aint working the way i had dreamed it would these past few nights and things are going downhill fast! I get the brilliant idea to tilt the dish a little to get a better angle WRONG MOVE Dog food and agar (smells terrible) is EVERYWHERE!!! Oh god im getting tears in my eyes just remembering it. ok so now im crying like a baby cursing those damn people you know the Joshua's and the Mycophile's for planting this terrible seed in my mycologically impotent brain. Finally i just wrap the whole things up three dishes at a time and pray for the best.. Thanks guys Ill never forget this Love, The CultyVader  Praying for one clean dish Please god please

I wrap ten dishes at a time, why don'y you jsut make a ghetto glove box, with a little 99.9% HEPA blowing in it for positive pressure? it would make your life much easier.

Yeah i know i just didnt realize how much the oven tek sucks . Not that its bad or anything just realy hot and cumbsersome

no way your kidding me right? Ive read that you seal them while hot to prevent contamination while cooling

I?m not kidding.
As you have seen it?s (nearly) impossible to seal them while the agar is still liquid.
