absolutely delighted
    #14009236 - 02/22/11 06:56 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

so im sooo lucky yesterday was my birthday and i got one of the best things ever from my dad, you see i had voiced an interest in active mushrooms i had mentioned that its way easy er to identify what a mushroom is if you can get a look at the spores and that i thought that he happened to have such mushrooms growing all over his yard. i woke to him calling me and telling i needed to go look outside and there was a box and in that box was a REALLY nice microscope:awegroove: so come spring we are going picking together:rockon: im so tickled i can hardly contain myself now i can hardly wait for spring.
so to my question... can someone suggest a really good guide that show both the mushroom and what the spoors are supposed to look it would be cool if they also showed what the spoor print should look like. LOTS of pictures are a really good thing. thank you. Namaste

I'm curious - which species do you think they are?

You got a microscope and you don't even know how to spell spores?
Identification is easier and simpler with a field guide, although not as accurate.
Oh yeah and happy birthday. :blazed:

for your area....i reccomend "All that the Rain Promises and MOre" used in conjuncture with "Mushrooms Demystified" both by David Arora. it doesnt have pictures of spore prints of spores under a scope but they are both very useful, comprehensive guides. must haves imo

Although nice to have, you don't need a microscope to identify a mushroom to species.

agree with this for sure...also, MD does have sketches of spores in the beginning of each section, but yeah... no pictures
