just got done pulling my cakes out of the dunking tank and cant wait to see what happens! i'll post some pics later tonight. also, i have a small shotgun terrarium but the lid is solid white. i was thinking of cutting away some of the middle part and attaching some saran wrap over it so they can get light from above. does this sound like a good idea?

If the sides are clear, light is fine to come in the sides, no need to cut the tub as you should have holes all around all 6 sides. Leave those there for FAE
-------------------- We think we have freedom, but we're all just mice in a maze.... FYI: I stole all my pix off google! F+ PORN! Here is a shit-ton of porn by yours truly! I have FINALLY written up a couple teks as to how SHP has done things in the past. DISCLAIMER: This is not for the newbie to mycology, and not going to work for everyone! This is simply what works for one person when other teks and methods have failed miserably! ~~~~~How SHP does their unconventional WBS Prep!! (NO DRY METHOD)~~~~ ~~~~~SHP's highly disputed method of doing ALL their work outside of a flow hood or a Still air box!~~~~~ ~~~~~Troubles harvesting the side and bottom pins in your mono? Learn how!! Dunking included ;-)~~~~~

This, and what do you mean by small? Is it still the standard 1/4" holes on all 6 sides?

If the sides are clear you're good to go. Just put the light on the side of the tub, it won't make any difference. Just make sure to use light with a color temperature of 5,000 Kelvin to 7,000 Kelvin

For a small terrarium as described in this chapter, a single CFL (compact fluorescent) that screws into a standard light bulb socket will work very well. These can often be found in grocery and drug stores in every neighborhood. 15 watt CFLs will do the job well, but the package will probably have a large 60 stamped on it, indicating they produce light "equivalent" to a 60 watt incandescent light bulb. They're referring to lumens of output, not the frequency. Incandescent light bulbs are the worst possible choice for growing mushrooms, since they emit a 'red' light in the 3,000 Kelvin color temperature range.
