I was under the impression soundboards were only in streaming format, so audio capturing software is necessary to "download" soundboards.
someone elaborate

you can download the stream file, open it with a text editor such as notepad, and it'll show you links to every mp3 for download in that stream. Its just tedious, if there was a way to stream line the process that would be sweet.
Also, I thought only officially released sound boards couldn't be downloaded? Is it all soundboards now?

Its really easy to download the stream-only shows
In the URL, replace the section "/details/" with "/download/" (type it out yourself) and hit enter. the page reloads as a list of files. right click, save as.

i wrote a python script that you feed a CSV and it will grab all the files. its rather rudimentary, but it gets the job done. You can do an advanced search and have the results returned as a CSV.

actually, i just looked at it.
All of the links are /download
http://www.archive.org/download/gd1981-02-27.mtx.chappell.sb02b.28384.sbeok.flac16/gd1981-02-27.mtx.chappell.sb02b.28384.sbeok.flac16_vbr.m3u
im not so sure what you mean now meams, unless you mean it just downloads the m3u file.
Im talking about ripping all the actual mp3 files from the m3u file.

maybe I'm missing something here...
trying to download the show: http://www.archive.org/details/gd1985-06-30.mtx.seamons.94642.sbeok.flac16
replacing "details" with "download" brings me here: http://ia700302.us.archive.org/6/items/gd1985-06-30.mtx.seamons.94642.sbeok.flac16/
right click and "save link as" saves the file as a Firefox document, not as an audio file
clicking on a file brings me to an archive.org page saying "The item is not available due to issues with the item's content."

While we are at it, I'de like to recommend the GD show 10-3-87. The whole first set is crackling with goodness.

Glad you enjoy it, definitely one of my favorite Essau's and the Candyman solo in this is awesome. Part of this show is bonus footage on one of the View from the Vault DVDs.

Will be checking that show out tomorrow.
1989-07-18 Alpine Valley was an outstanding show, both by the Dead and DSO. I saw it a few years ago. I can't remember the more recent sets I saw that I can compared to the actual Dead set.

Couldn't you just let the songs buffer completely, then take them off your browers cache? Pretty sure I've done that. Using firefox, just type about:cache into the address bar and you can find the folder there. The files won't be named but if you change the folder to show by date modified and look for the suitably sized file you could take individual songs like that, I think.

i could....but my python script digests an entire list of search results whole. much more efficient and saves me a lot of time.
