question about pf cakes in terrarium..

Hey everybody, i have a simple question that i have not been able to find through the search engine. after you dunk/roll and birth pf cakes, is the mycelium supposed to take over the verm layer that the cake was rolled in then start pinning? ive got one cake that was dunked/rolled and birthed into my FC about 4 days ago and it looks like the mycelium has taken over most of the verm layer it was rolled in but no pins yet.. i have 6 more cakes that have been in the FC after a dunk/roll for about 2 days and one was pinning invitro so it already has about 5 lil pins that are looking pretty nice. any comments from more experienced growers are very welcome

Some times it does and some times it doesn't. But the myc being active and taking over the verm isn't a bad thing :-)

So if the mycelium takes over the verm and it look all fluffy it should start to pin soon or no?

It should, but it'll pin when it wants to. just have to be patient. I've had cakes knot up for over a month, then start to pin...

Plenty of both, my temps were also lower as well, but just the same, I've had 4 cakes "fruiting" for the last 3 weeks... and this is as far as they've gotten haha!
They've recently started to grow a little faster in the last 3 days, so I'm hoping these suckers are nice and thick! sick of hollow stems...

Whoa.. haha 3 weeks and they just started to look like that? what strain are you dealing with? I wonder if that could have something to do with it? I used mazatapec strain from sporeworks and it was pretty slow to colonize, about 4 weeks, and they were only 1/4 pint jars.

I would imagine it's lower temps causing that. What are the temps you dropped to? Lower temps = slower but much beefier fruits from what I've read.

I was fruiting in 55-59F temps
The last week and a half has been 70-73 degrees. So I guess they've been in that FC for over a month and a week or two maybe? haha I dont keep track of time very well as my work sched fucks me up. They are cambodians.
I'm hoping they'll be nice and meaty also! could use a real good harvest off these couple cakes right now...

Yea I would say try to keep it in the range of 63-68 if you want meaty but still good growth.

lol, thanks penhed, but you didn't take a close look at the pic i posted, they are actively fruiting, and the misting kept them properly hydrated. The cold temps fruit just fine, just takes longer. I dont even know if I'll need to dunk after the first flush as my cakes still feel fully hydrated thats the plus of slow growth, you never loose the mointure nearly as much as fast growing cakes

I would keep them at a slightly higher temp though so you get the best of both worlds (meaty fruits and faster growth)
