:rofl2:
where did you hear that from? Can you elaborate?

Last I heard from protesters on democracy now, the opposition in Libia has occupied most of the capital. The government is claimed to be committing atrocities and have hired some mercenaries to bulk it's numbers. Some army persons are resisting orders or abandoning their posts, but many of them are being executed for this. The army is not behaving anything like in Egypt. The information of what is happening is unclear but people have claimed as well that the government is twittering false information to intimidate people from demonstrating.

Nobody can be sure what is actually going on there, but we can only hope for the best.

I was hoping he would have some elaborate bullshit explanation for it that would at least prompt a laugh. I mean from a guy who has a personal guard of elite hot female soldiers, you'd at least expect some good bullshit.

The story is that the protestors and opposition groups are all "outside agitators".  Always the same story, whether in the Berkeley student protests, student shootings at Kent State, or the recent unrest in Myanmar challenging their dictatorship:  the establishment trys to convince people that some outside force is opposing them and that they therefore need to join together and support the state.  (look at Bush's approval ratings before and after 9/11 when people decided they were being attacked by foreign agressors with a strange cultre- that shit works).  Hitler did the same thing for an excuse to invade Poland and start WWII with the support of the people- he rallied his nation with stories of treacherous poles, jews, Bolsheviks, toppling radio towers and telegraph/phone lines and sabotaging the economy.

Anyways, Libya now seems to be taking a page from China, the granddaddy of the totalitarian dictatorial states, and trotting out people on the state television who "confess" to being foreign mercenaries paid to agitate and cause trouble (just like they do after domestic troubles and during falun gong round-ups).  In this way, Qaddafi is able to position himself as a defender of the people and fighter of foreign enemies, rather than the target of a popular uprising, and provide an excuse for the opposition that doesn't acknowledge any legitimate domestic grievances.

One of the guys they had confessing on state media to being a foreign 'bad guy' was said to have been intoxicated with hallucinogens, according to Libya state media (per a Russia Today or Al Jazera report, forget which one).  Apparently they are crazed hallucinating foreign agents causing all the trouble- the loyal people of Libya would never have a problem with anything that goes on in the paradise of the African continent that is Libya.  (interestingly, the 'foreign agents' they show on the TV generally seem to have suffered some head trauma recently... surely that couldn't mean the peaceful Libyan state beating people into confessing, could it?)

lol yea that's the kind of grade A bullshit I'd been expecting from this guy, it's like he's a psychotic dictator who's literally hired a bunch of comedians to do his public relations.

Yeah, I found a snippit from al jazera showing the "hallucinating provocateur", lol

Notice this gentleman seems to have a black eye and some pretty severe facial trauma, swelling.  I'm sure that's just an effect of the drugs the foreign agents are giving these guys, right?

Also, i like Qaddafi's speech, lol.  He says he was chilling with the protestors in the square and was sad to leave the nice people, but had to get out of the rain.  He also calls the media "stray dog broadcasters"... ok?

Around 46 seconds is where the hallucinating foreign agent with the swollen and bruised face is "confessing" on state television:

When the twats gone (and lots of others like him) maybe the Arab states will be more ready to sell oil to the world and then there can be another economic boom time.

You can see that the common people in these countries are ready for it; they understandably want to benefit from their country’s great fortune having such huge natural wealth under the sands.  They aught to be ready to make most of what they’ve been gifted with (while they can) because alternatives to fossil fuels are being worked on right now.

Have a look at ITER  http://www.iter.org/ in 40 or 50 years there maybe very little need pumping oil or gas at all?

Gaddafi will be gone any day now, insha'allah.

Or there will be a coup/civil war, which I think and hope the people of Libya will win but honestly, there will be much more bloodshed if it occurs

I saw on DN! today he announced he would not leave and he would die a martyr, so if Egypt is any indication he's probibly arranging to leave right now.
