Considering giving cultivation a shot...

It pains me to say that I have extremely little experience with mushrooms, due to the fact that I have not found any reliable sources where I live. So I figure fuck it, time to make a reliable source: moi.
I read the Revised PF-Tek a few days ago and have spoken to a Shroomery member on the phone quite a few times who is particularly excelled in this wonderful hobby so if I do decide to go through with this I have some good expectations and a great source of help.
The one thing is my living situation; me + my mother rent a small basement so my room is the living room basically. However, there are quite a few boxes stacked up towards the back of the house surrounding shelves, so my question is this: does one need ALOT of space to cultivate the Flesh of the Gods or can I easily let them grow in seclusion? I also am home alot of the time as school doesnt take up too much of my time and my mom's off working so I'd be able to dedicate alot of time to this.
Has anybody ever tried cultivating in similar circumstances (i.e. family in small space)? I want to know if this can be done on the down-low, ya dig?

Unless your mom is okay with your project, I wouldn't recommend putting yourself or family at any legal risk.
Plus, what would she say about the light in your room?
And no, you really don't need a lot of space. I'd just wait until you move out though. That way you have all the space you want and then some.

You don't need a lot of space, but I would seriously consider the legal repercussions of this. Even if your mom is pretty chill, it's amazing what parents are capable of when they are worried about their children.
Monotubs don't take up much space, but they will need access to light while fruiting. I would either wait till you are in a better situation, or grow sclerotia. You can just grow them in jars with no light.

If your mom is cool with it, go for it

^ thats a pretty neat tek too, apart from the ratio of BRF to verm, i'd go with (brf)1:2(verm) instead of their weird (1:3).

Yeah, my friend on here actually was just telling me that sclerotia/rocks are the way to go in thios situation; no light and the only thing I'd do is the inoculating, moisturizing, pressure cooking then leave me in a jar and forget them. I think I'll go with the sclerotia.

that's what I'm doing for my next grow just cuz the house I'm currently living in seems to have inherent contam issues. Mold and stuff. Plus it just takes a lot less effort. I've been told to not be hasty to harvest them. The longer they mature the stronger they get. A lot of folks use grass seed for them, but I'm gonna use ryegrain, cuz it's easy to work with, and sounds like it works just as well.

Grow stones. Never grown them yet but read "easier than cubes" if you can get through it... No visibility at all, easy to cultivate, made to order?

Just to clarify, stones = sclerotia = truffles right? Exactly what is the difference between those and regular shrooms/what are they actually and is there some sort of difference in potency?

people DO often refer to them as truffles though.
