Shotgun chamber help

I can't seem to keep my shotgun chamber humid at all. I have PE in birdseed cakes and after a day the chamber it goes dry and after a week the perlites almost bone dry. The chamber worked beautifully earlier this year, but now I think the fact that it's a little drier out is effecting it. Any thoughts, tips?

Winter. I have to battle the same problem. Usually in between flushes when I soak the substrate, I'll go ahead and rehydrate the perlite.
Also, the SGFC was designed to work in a house with an ambient humidity of if I can remember correctly.. around 30%. I have to run two humidifiers 24/7 to battle my gas heater. The heater dries everything up!

I was told that if you touch a light switch or doorknob and get shocked your humidity in room is too low and that you should have a RH of at least 35% in the room for SGFC to work properly. I was also told that cracking a window in the room may help. I just run a humidifier on the same schedule as my light and it seems to keep the FC's RH up. I forgot to run my humidifier for about 3 days and my RH in the SGFC went down and my perlite dried out to where I had to re wet it.

Yea, for a SGFC you want your room humidity to be between 30 and 40%. In winter it usually gets lower because of the heating source in your house. The solution is simple, you have to run a humidifier in the room to achieve a Rh around 35% ±5%. If you have a wood heater, just throw a pan full of water on top and it'll do the job.

The only way that can happen is if you're failing to mist, or failing to mist enough. Anytime you're misting the cakes or other substrate, the overspray is rehydrating the perlite. RR

ya man get an hygrometer and keep an eye on your rH inside your FC as well. You want it to be above 95% as much as possible.
