i'd say that it's not government we need, but rather the military. care to explain why we need government for defense, and not a trained military force (militia)? you seem to be confused about the difference between the two.
Okay. So, who, pray tell, will train this militia? Arm it? Feed the miltiapeople? Cloth them? Will they provide their own equipment? Will they train themselves? Will they be professional soldiers? Or only called up in times of war? Who will call them up? Who will house them? Who will pay them?
They shall do all of that themselves. And when the invader arrives, they shall bravely charge forth, stopping for nothing, until the batteries of their Rascal Scooters run down.
Google the poem "The Charge of the Obese Brigade".

costa rica abolished their army in 1948 by constitutional decree. why has no one invaded and conquered them?
by your logic, it should have happened long ago.

That's how the world works.
and just how would they disarm the public? i don't think anyone in their right mind would invade a country with the gun per capita rates of the US.
a quote from a certain japanese general comes to mind...
Maybe because most small arms that civilians own are rather ineffective against even lightly armored vehicles? Unless you are suggesting that the citzenry be allowed to posses larger caliber small arms and anti-armor rounds, but even then, who will train the citzenry? Are you suggesting that everyone be allowed to own what ever military ordinance they can afford?

You want a military without a civil authority?
That would be amazing.
Yes let's remove civilian oversight over the military, they would never ever get it into their heads to fight for power amongst themselves or create small kingdoms controlled by their loyal troops.

Oh yeah, because Costa Rica is just so rich in resources. It has so much mineral wealth and arable land. Totally worth attacking.

It also has a large number of US based companies invested in it.

what is with all the brandy new accounts in this thread, is this a troll trap or what? why is this thread so derailed from a ron paul money bomb? interesting indeed.
go ahead and continue putting all your faith into government. right up to the point when your friends and family are thrown into internment camps.

Shock! New people show up and start "talking" and "giving opinions"! Wow, they must be trolls! And look, a thread drifted! PROOF OF THE TROLL THEORY!
Who said I had faith in the government? I support an oppressive autocracy. That way you can sit back and accept the ass-reaming. Yuo expect it. All these notions of "liberty" and "natural rights" and stuff just belie the fact that human beings are violent, horrible cunts, and would just as soon smash in their neighbor's face as say hello if there weren't a carefully constructed social hierarchy in place. Why make it more complicated than it really is?

Well, they're certainly taking their time about it. 220 years of government - many of those years far more oppressive than the current year - and we've hardly ever thrown entire populations of Native Americans and Japanese-Americans into internment camps.

For the record:
Investing in a campaign to cripple the stultifying growth of endless government control of your lives could pay handsomely for you and your loved one's safety and quality of life.
None of you naysayers have said anything remotely articulate about specifically what you have against the Congressman from Texas. He is a living breathing honest politician. There is no dirt on him, otherwise it would have been dug up long ago. He would have been blackmailed and then toe the line like most of the other oxygen thief politicians.
The economy is the major concern presently. Dr.Paul's views on economics come from the Misesian school of Austrian economics and the American founders.
Debate against his philosophical view if any of you useless government shills have the balls to do so.
I say that most of you do not possess the testicular fortitude to do so, because those who blindly worship governmental authority are as eunuchs.
Go look in the mirror, eunuchs, ask yourselves if you possess the balls or the backbones to be considered men.
The world economy is headed off the cliff and you worthless fools attempt to derail important matter at hand, much like the stereotypical valley girl who cares not what the future brings so long as she can go to the mall today... Such is the shallowness of your economic understanding, ye ball-less authoritarian boot-lickers.
I truly hope that Dr.Paul runs again. America needs a national debate on the economic state of the nation immediately.
EDIT
Ron Paul wants to end the wars, to include the war on drugs. Strangely enough people on a mushroom cultivation site think he is just "too extreme" et cetera. Many of you refuse to support someone who's got your back.
Utterly worthless self hating drug users.
Support the man who wants to legalize freedom, or go back to your pathetic cringing at the heavy handed tyranny of the State.
If you do not support freedom you have no one to blame but yourselves for your oppression.

It appears that he is too popular to be shut out of debate if he runs this time.
I'm fairly certain he holds the record for the most money raised in a single day.
He could run and win.......

I agree, now that he isn't shunned out, Republicans will actually have to intellectually debate him rather than casting him off as extreme.

I wouldn't go so far as to call him a nut job, he deff loves mr.jesus though.
I'd still vote for him. He's one of the few politicians that actually goes out of his way to uphold the bill of rights and constitution.

Why does everybody think he's so Christian, he barely mentions it from everything I have seen and read from him, which is quite a bit. Also, I didn't call him a nut job.
