do you live on campus/in a college apartment complex?
On the first week every year I just knock on my neighbors door, say whats up, ask them if they want to kick it some time, get numbers, call them and chill. It sucks though, this year the neighbors on my right side were alright, I drink with them and they start telling me about how they stole the bottle of jose cuervo from a party they went to that night. I think "Awesome, now I know who not to invite to my friends places"

$500 a semester is conservative for some fraternities.
A kid I know rushed for the fraternity SAE and literally in the interview they asked him "What kind of car do you drive and how much money does your dad make?"

My problem with frats and sororities is that the people who attend them are usually spoiled, and carry that nose-up "I will not talk to you because your mommy and daddy don't make as my mommy and daddy do."
I haven't met one yet who would actually talk to me, they pull that "this guy isn't worthy" rude air and stare right at you when you ask a simple question like what time it is saying nothing at all.
Also, around here anyway, their parties blow hardcore. They have nothing on non-frat-sorority madness from my experience.

If you went to a top-tier school, and joined a large, well-known frat, it might be advantageous later in life.
However, I do agree that for the most part, frats seem like a bunch of douchebags who band together out of their own insecurity.

Prep H has the right idea with frats. Every single one of those kids are a bunch of tools. They'll call you up, invite you to shit, give you beer, smoke you up, and act like the coolest motherfuckers you ever met.
Until you tell them that you don't want to join their club.
After that, you may as well be dead to them.

This thread is one big
I'm 99% sure none of you have been in a fraternity or sorority. What do any of you really know about them?

I know what I've experienced firsthand through rushing, going to their parties, and getting to know them. I've also talked to a couple of my friends who are members of fraternities about their experiences. I probably don't know as much as a person who is actually a member, but I know a good bit.

Another funny thing, I'm good friends with this one group of sorority girls and this one girl confides in me about her "problems" about her search for love. Every weekend she meets someone and hooks up with them at a frat, then they never call her. That's because the sorority and frats chill together and the frat guys use the sorostitues, that is the only thing I am jealous of is that these girls are so fucking stupid they let themselves get fucked and tossed to the curb while people like me have a hard time finding girls to use as objects because all the dumb ones go to the frats leaving me with all the respectable girls I can bring home to mom.
Woe is me

That's how you do it. Most frat partys get filled up quick and stop letting in guys which is dumb.

I went to a frat 2 years ago, asked for a beer, they gave me a hard time and handed me a half drank beer, I dunno what's in that shit so I took it and told my gf at the time to grab me a beer because they'll give whatever is asked of a girl with tits. I went to their bathroom and dumped the beer in their trashcan then pissed in it.
Came back and smiled to the dude as I cracked open a fresh beer, hope he had to clean up my piss.

I have a mixed opinion of frats. I went to the UofMN, where they have an entire street in the middle of campus called "frat row". That street is out of control on the weekends but unless you are "greek", or an attractive female, you are not getting in to their parties. A high school friend of mine and my brother were both in fraternities at Minnesota State, and it was much more relaxed down there. For initiation, my brothers frat made the pledges perform skits and clean up after parties. I never heard of any nasty hazing rituals, and the parties were always tons of fun!
One time when my brother was visiting me at the UofMN, he took me to frat party there. It was a completely different atmosphere, and there was a much larger percentage of your stereotypical douchebag fratboys. It made me realize that I was not missing out on anything, and frat row is not as fun as it looks from the street...

Nope, I'm living at home. I'm sure the dorms would be an easy place meeting people. I also work on the weekends. Tough shit I know, lol , but whatever. I'll probably just try spending more time on campus and looking at some more clubs

That explains a bit of it. My freshman year I met the majority of my friends I still speak to today. Then sophomore year I left my campus, moved home, and went to another campus. While at home I met 5 people tops. It's just harder to meet people that way.
