hypothermia....  It's not something you get very readily without exposure to the weather, so if you have it I would recommend getting that checked out as it can be a sign of a MUCH worse problem such as a tumor or serious infection

ya water actually sucks body heat OUT, thats why we sweat.

If the water is at a higher temperature than your body, then it would raise your body temperature.  You lose heat when you sweat because of the action of evaporation.  Your sweat absorbs heat from your body until it gets warm enough to vaporize, then it takes that energy with it as it escapes into the atmosphere.  If you submerge yourself in water, the heat will want to equalize, so if you are colder than the water, the heat will move from the water to your body.

Here is an analogy for you:  If you take some frozen chicken out of your freezer, and put it in a bowl of water, does the chicken become colder as the water warms up?

I'm glad someone here has some sense...
Why the fuck would water suck out your body heat?

if the water is warmer than the frozen chicken, no. but this guy would have to take a 99 degree bath, screw that, he would have to take a 105 degree bath to not get the heat sucked out by the colder water. 105 degrees isn't going to last too long in the water, so he will need constant boiling water poured into the tub now and again to maintain a temperature above 98 degrees.

I would have just gone to the hospital. I know it ruins your credit, but is dying better?

as for smoking weed raising your body temperature, you are very lucky. i'm not saying weed should lower your body temperature, but it will make you tired and lower your metabolism, likely lowing your body temperature in the process.

No, 95F water is definitely not cold.  It's lukewarm.  And it would equalize with your body's heat, removing it from your body.  The term "lukewarm" is what his argument was about.  Don't take a lukewarm bath, take a hot bath.

ok yes a very hot bath then. didn't realize that 95 was only lukewarm, what is scalding hot then? 100 something degrees? i know at 212 water boils so I assumed 95 was already very hot.

Add the chicken to the boiling water first. Next wrap up in blankets and smoke weed. Eat hot chicken.

nope, learned that in national geographic channel's documentary "High On: Marijuana". First chance i had to test it out in this kind of setting but i already knew it was true, havent u ever taken a huge rip and started pooring sweat?

The rate that the water temperature changes depends on the geometry of the tub and the air temperature outside of the bath.  If the temperature of the air in the bathroom is at 97F, then the temperature of the bathwater will not change.  If the surface area of the bath is small compared to the volume of the bath, the heat will escape at a slower rate than if the surface area was large compared to the volume.  Not that any of that matters in this case.  I agree with you that the RP would benefit from a hot bath much more than he would from a lukewarm bath.

it actually raises your body temperature? that isn't just a mental phenomena? I guess that is why when I smoke weed I REALLY HATE being outside in super hot weather. I always thought that was because of mental effect marijuana has on the senses. so btw are you alright dude?

if I were you I would eat a whole bottle of vitamin c. I'm glad you are ok.

Evaporation actually sucks body heat out, and in fact your air conditioning uses the same principle, but with compressed freon.

I would consider a 98.6F bath to be lukewarm, since that is your ideal body temperature.  A hot tub can be set as hot as 110F, and that is very comfortable for many people.  As I said earlier, the term lukewarm does not actually have a defined temperature.  It's not cold, but it's not hot.

The other variable that nobody has mentioned yet is that the body creates it's own heat.  If the RP's room is 70F, and the bath is 90F, his body temperature could still rise during a bath even though heat is being sucked out from the relatively colder water, just because the water is warmer relative to the air...

the fact that evap does suck body heat out doesnt mean its the only way...... u trying to say water wont suck body heat out or what? maybe i didnt fully explain the process of how sweat lowers our body temp (not that it matters what so fucking ever) but i definitely said step one(or at least a step b4 evap u technical bastard, dont use technicalities to distract from the point of the arguement.. its unbecoming) AND I ONLY BROUGHT IT UP TO EXPLAIN WHY I WOULDNT TAKE A LUKEWARM BATH... edit: and btw i have an old family friend who is a doctor who sees me for free whenever i get sick. Since his office is closed today he told me to wait til tomorrow, stay warm/drink hot liquids, and call him if it gets any lower.
im not going to a hospital i cant afford it

98.6 is certainly a hot bath. The temperature of your epidermis is not the same as your internal temperature.
Luke warm is low-mid 80's Fahrenheit.
Low 90's is hot.
Anything 98+ is very hot.
105+ is hot enough to sting your skin when initially submerging.

I know this because my family has a hot tub that we heat up fairly regularly with an accurate thermometer. Put a thermometer in your bath tub and you can find out for yourself.

Also need to consider that water is a much better conducter, so 60F water will cool you down significantly more quickly than 60F air.
