Well, "lukewarm" is about the same temperature as your body. It would very quickly drop below that. Probably in 5 minutes or so. At that point, it would suck out your body heat.

If it was cold water, yes. Who the hell is cold, then sits in cold water to warm up, though?

yes, and what about when you get out of the warm water? I'm always freezing my ass off when I get out of a hot bath.

No, 95F water is definitely not cold. It's lukewarm. And it would equalize with your body's heat, removing it from your body. The term "lukewarm" is what his argument was about. Don't take a lukewarm bath, take a hot bath.

You FEEL cold, but that feeling doesn't last. What happens is your body compensates for the lack of heat on the outside by radiating your internal heat outwards. So, the sudden shock on your skin tells your body that it's really really cold, causing your internal heat to move outwards to keep your skin warm. Although, I don't think this would cause a serious drop in internal body heat. Maybe you could run the shower to heat the room up, or just step out of the tub and immediately dry off & bundle up. I still think you should call a nurse or something...I wouldn't fuck around with my health.

thank you for expanding upon the original statement. I was saying warm water as you might not want to take too hot of a bath as to shock your system? but maintaining a water temperature of your body or a little bit higher would equalize your internal thermometer. Baths that are too hot aren't very comfortable to soak in any ways.

When you get out of the warm water, water starts evaporating off of your warm wet skin, which cools you down. You can minimize the amount of heat lost when you get out of the bath by drying off quickly...

lukewarm is not defined by a certain temperature. It's a relative term. If the RP's body temp is 96F, a 95F bath will suck heat from his body. If the water is 97F, his body would suck heat from the water...

Even if it's 97, it'll only stay that way for a very short time. Maybe 5 minutes until it's 95.

The rate that the water temperature changes depends on the geometry of the tub and the air temperature outside of the bath. If the temperature of the air in the bathroom is at 97F, then the temperature of the bathwater will not change. If the surface area of the bath is small compared to the volume of the bath, the heat will escape at a slower rate than if the surface area was large compared to the volume. Not that any of that matters in this case. I agree with you that the RP would benefit from a hot bath much more than he would from a lukewarm bath.

ya water actually sucks body heat OUT, thats why we sweat.
If the water is at a higher temperature than your body, then it would raise your body temperature. You lose heat when you sweat because of the action of evaporation. Your sweat absorbs heat from your body until it gets warm enough to vaporize, then it takes that energy with it as it escapes into the atmosphere. If you submerge yourself in water, the heat will want to equalize, so if you are colder than the water, the heat will move from the water to your body.
Here is an analogy for you: If you take some frozen chicken out of your freezer, and put it in a bowl of water, does the chicken become colder as the water warms up?
I'm glad someone here has some sense... Why the fuck would water suck out your body heat?
rofl that is how it works. put yourself in a small amount of 40 degree water while in the fridge(too make sure the outside air isnt a factor) and take the temp of the water in an hour. AMAZING!!! its warmer :o
now if i got in a lukewarm bath, and go look up the definition of a lukewarm then look up the definition of warm, it would not raise my temp at all, and if i satyed in too long and it lost heat it WOULD start sucking heat from me. Thats why people get hypothermia when they are stranded in the ocean.. The water is colder than they are... So after i get out of the bath after not being warmed up whatsoever i come into contact with cold ass air.. the end result being heat lost from my body. Let me say this one more time, i cannot be more clear, i was never talking about a hot bath having this effect just lukewarm one's

My tempurature is usually at 96-98 range, usually on the low side.. 95.8 is pretty low. Maybe your thermometer is not calibrated correctly.. Definitely keep monitoring it, you can always see one of those 24 hour doc in the boxes for 150 bucks. Much cheaper than a hospital.

ya water actually sucks body heat OUT, thats why we sweat. But i bet if i did take a hot bath for a little, like a jacuzzi or something, it would help. thanks.
Here is the complete context. I wasn't trying to argue with you. I was only explaining the physics behind why sweat cools you down, but a warm bath warms you up. After reading the post I quoted above, I concluded that you didn't understand the physics of heat transfer, and that you might be interested in learning. Obviously you are crabby, and do not care...
