Where could DNA possibly come from?
    #13999935 - 02/21/11 08:26 AM (13 years, 12 days ago)

It's the building block of life on earth, everything has it's own order of DNA. The plants, the humans, all the animals. Combined with all the cells and molecular creativity.

Can you possibly imagine or find truth behind where this intelligent DNA strain came from?

Ever seen the movie Mission To Mars? Or the ending of Men In Black?

Yeah, it's funny you mention the ending because me and my friend were having a very similar discussion the other day.

Where could DNA possibly come from?

How about simple chemistry and the laws of thermodynamics?

The specific mechanism of the origin of life on Earth isn't known. However, it has been shown that complex amino acids (the building blocks of proteins) can self-synthesis given the right conditions. DNA is simple by comparison to many proteins.

Chemists Stanley Miller's and Harold Urey's famous experiment in 1953 put water, methane, hydrogen, and ammonia in a closed, sterile environment with an electric spark to simulate lightning.

After a few days they analyzed the contents of the experiment and found that amino acids, the critical organic molecules essential to life out of which proteins are made, had appeared by themselves. The four carbon chemical bonds in the methane had broken free and rearranged themselves into the building blocks of life.

This happened without the benefit of a designer, alien, creator, Spaghetti Monster, or anything else besides water, methane, hydrogen, ammonia and a spark.

Although it is now believed that the Earth's atmosphere at the time of abiogenesis did not contain enough carbon or free nitrogen for this to have been the synthetic route to the first organism, it nevertheless clearly established that a natural processes COULD have produced the first life on Earth and more modern experiments confirm this.

This idea that abiogenesis is highly unlikely or impossible is bullshit made up by people with a mystic-head slant who don't understand simple chemistry or thermodynamics and sadly never bother to educate themselves because education and truth would undermine their pre-conclusions about magic.

What is an "intelligent DNA strain" and how does it differ from an unintelligent DNA strain?

Doesn't human intelligence define some sort of designed intelligence?

very good question. but really, some people DO think dna came from space. that is hard to believe, but whatever, who knows.

On a recent NovaScienceNow, they covered a sort of update to Miller and Urey. Some biochemists (no link) believe that RNA is more important than DNA as far as how life began. These guys were able to create two of the four building blocks of RNA using only the tools available in ancient earth: heat, water and light and raw elements.

This brings us another giant step closer.

What's makes you so sure there is intelligences behind it?  Because you don't have the answer it must be some mysterious intelligence?

Maybe cells are to humans as molecules are to cells and as atoms are to molecules?

quarks/leptons to atoms = atoms to molecules = molecules to cells = cells to humans = humans to earth = earth/planets to galaxies = galaxies to universes

Sure, the Spaghetti Monster doesn't mold each DNA strand Himself.  How dumb would that be? He simply created the physical laws, mixed up a batch of souls, energy, and meatballs, and let things fly.

Are you really comparing living things to atoms and molecules :omgz: ?

Let's take it a step further, quarks/leptons to atoms = atoms to molecules = molecules to cells = cells to humans = humans to earth = earth/planets to galaxies = galaxies to universes = universes to quarks/leptons
