Mammillaria sp. grafted in Hylocereus
    #13997786 - 02/20/11 08:29 PM (13 years, 13 days ago)

This is a cacti I rescued from the dumpster by my apartment. At first I thought it was ugly, some kind of grafted franken cactus, but that was before I gained an appreciation for all cacti and their beauty. It grew a new pup, and I'm excited so I thought I'd share:

It grew FAST! Here's the same cacti at the beginning of the month, the pup is just a little nub:

I'm assuming those are roots growing out? Hmm, should I leave it be or cut the pup and root it in it's own pot? If I leave it should I cover the roots with dirt?

I would wait until that pup gets just a little bigger, then hack it off and plant on it's own, burying the roots of course.

Hylocereus is a common rootstock yeah? three sides/points, thin tiny needles...I see these at gardening stores with bright orange/yellowish cacti grafted, or those ones you have, grafted on top.
Cool franken cacti =D Anyone have a franken-cacti with arms and a head? Would be neato =D

In ancient times, when demons roamed with man, They hunted, loved and lost, hand in hand, As time went on, the difference between them faded. You couldn't tell anymore, demons and man were related, and some would say the same, but who would like to claim? In time, Gods had even forgot, Demons, too, once love had sought. In times recent I remember, Once I was a man, In my heart I had an ember, I'll relate the best I can but it was snuffed, one distant December. And yet here I stand, no flesh, no bones, no seed or semen, All that's left is this Demon.
