Guess i should list what the box already does?

Always on
PFSense - Routing/Firewall
Windows Xp Corp - Dedicated ActiveHome box
Windows Xp Corp - Monitor box, sniffs selected network traffic
Openfiler - Provides network storage
Windows Xp Corp - PSP iso server
Turnkey LAMP Stack - Tracmor server
Turnkey Torrent Stack - Network downloader
Trixbox - Asterisk server
Ubuntu Server - Altitude Server
Ubuntu Desktop - Basic Linux needs
Windows 7 Ult - Whatever i might need this for...
MythTV - Home DVR
Folding@home

On When Needed
Backtrack - Security Scanning
FOGServer - Cloner
OSX and OSX Server
Ultimate Deployment App
Win 3.11 - LOL

There are a few more than that, but that pretty much lists the whole box's functions...

Really depends on what you are trying to learn/do!

Try running some proprietary unix that might make you money in the long run, learning to administrate ((open)solaris anyone )
Routing experiments with m0n0wall or pfsense are fun too.

Hah. Doing that on a 'real' router is straight black magic at times. On cisco it's almost a waste of time. The hardware counters are nearly useless when troubleshooting utilization on multicast traffic, and that's basically all the tools you have outside of cloning interfaces at l2 and capturing.

A fun way to do this and learn some really useful skillz at the same time is to use the tools that 29west built to generate a bunch of streams and then split up vlans and see if you can get everything to route properly and not blow up your load balancing.
Or maybe this is not the kind of thing you are interested in. Was fun for me anyhow.

oh oh oh. Make a puppet manifest for each of your boxes and see if you can get your environment on all these platforms to be the same so you can seamlessly jump between them and have all your openfiler shit mounted, your .vimrc setup, and all the shit you need installed.

IPv6 lab?? I haven't the time or balls to get myself to do this yet, but also a good idea to play with.

all that seems needlessly complicated.
