Ha! You'd think a phone that is that expensive would have a better camera on it

12/12 on/off for your light cycle is the best option.

I'm not a researching mycologist, so I don't know how we know this, but it turns out mycelium/fungus have a circadian rhythm. Getting the culture on a 12/12 light cycle will get the fungus on a good rhythm even before birthing, which is a good thing.

This way, the culture will start knotting and fruiting as soon as it's ready.

Other than that, from the (...somewhat crappy) pictures you've provided, the cakes look quite alright, and I can't think of any other recommendations to make at the moment.

I wish you :goodluck:, and I'll stop by from time to time, see how it's coming along.

:aweneck:

PS - digital cameras very easily can do what's known as a "white shift," where you tell the camera what white "looks" like in the area you're taking a picture - in your case somewhat green - and the camera will shift all the wavelengths up or down to match what white should look like in neutral lighting, and therefore all other colors as well. It's very similar to what is done with infrared photography. Actually, it's almost exactly the same, only instead of going from a spectrum of light outside the visual spectrum into the visual spectrum, we started within the visual spectrum and stayed there.

I understand this is a camera on a phone, but the principles of how photographs are taken digitally make this wave shift very easy to do, so I'd assume this feature is on your camera/phone, though it may be under a different name than "white shift."

Knowledge is trippy. :awecid:

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it, I'll be keeping updates with the cakes, one cake is almost fully colonized the outside of the jar so not too long before mushies

my jars have been colonizing in my room the past 18 days, I just started giving them 4 hours of light a day,

Don't do that again. From here on out you should let your jars colonize under ambient lighting from day 1. Don't keep them in the dark anymore.

How do you store your jars?
