Ok, pretend you know someone doing EQ-PF-TEK cakes. On the side of a fruiting cake that's somewhat damp, let's imagine some of the fruits are gaining little dark stripes coming down the stem from the veil-area. The line where the head is distinct from the stem is pretty dark as well (not blue, but almost black, but it doesn't look rotten), while the other fruits in the less damp areas do not have this darkness and have not at any stage of the game. Is this a problem? Is it (just) too damp? Does that make them a loss, or just aborts of a sort (therefore still edible), or can they recover and keep growing?
Thanks on behalf of the entire beaver population of Hazzard County.

Really? Dang, I need to get a digital camera. They're still well before veil-breaking time, so I guess that's why spores didn't come to mind. Could it be wet spores that just look that way because they're...um...wet?
valour confused.

its not spores. i've gotten this before and had a lengthy discussion with some people about the stripes with no clear answer. but it doesn't mean it will abort. just a discoloration.

OK, cool - did they keep growing? edit: ok, you just said they didn't abort - duh, sorry, it's been a long day. Any other effects (growth, contamination, taste, potency, favorite baseball team, etc.)?

nope, they're pretty normal. just hypothetically harvested some pes amazons from poo that had stripes. they were the same height as the unstriped ones and blued just the same. and its definitely not contamination. i'll see if i can find the pics i took of the pins.

not a great pic but this was taken when the striping was first observed on a previous flush, (march 1st). this stripe continued to grow up the stem as the mushroom matured.
