It is when you're talking about Windows vs. everything else.

If it wasnt for games, I'd have nothing to do with it.

Asus makes pretty sweet laptops, as do a number of other companies. If you have no preference to either OS, the only real plus I can see about an MBP is their build quality. They are very sleek, shiny, have great batteries and are heavily over priced.

The only good reason I see for getting an MBP is the fact that they are pretty damn foolproof....and shiny.

Get the PC.  Apple fanbois are annoying.  I've actually seen Apple bumper stickers.  And don't even get me started on the "Apple Lifestyle" :lolsy:

I laugh at my classmates who don't have a basic SD slot on their Macbooks.

I generally like Apple stuff - it's a little expensive, but it's built extremely well.  90% of laptops out there are plastic pieces of shit.

That being said, whoever is pushing that Magic Mouse :lolocaust:

It is the biggest piece of shit I've ever picked up.  The least ergonomic device I have ever seen.  How can you possibly use that thing?  My hand/wrist would be killing after 10 minutes, not to mention that when you try to do gestures on it it just slides away on the desk.

And the big Magic Trackpad?  Wow, just wow....

I use a high-end gaming mouse with a good lazer.  I don't know how you guys use such shitty peripherals.  Then again I also have a mechanical keyboard, and could never go back to a shitty rubber dome one.

You also get treated well with the product. My charger broke and I brought it in (it is out of warranty by over a year) and they gave me a new one for free. My friend did it right after too, so it wasn't just a fluke.

How do you come by saying the Magic Tracpad is shitty? It's excellent quality, get's decent battery life for a bluetooth peripheral, and has exclusivity on the peripherals that allow input through gesturing. After using a mouse for years all day my shoulder and hand started to hurt, regardless of what kind of mouse due to the inherent motion used when moving the cursor. Even with high sensitivity, there is a ton of moving. I don't get this on a tracpad and my hand, arm, and should no longer hurt after. Alas, I don't mice are shitty though. Inferior in regards to gestures, but not shitty.

I have a SD slot in Macbook Pro and have never used it. I am not sure it's a port than MUST be included on the machine vs a peripheral, I guess that will depend on the person. For a brief stretch Apple omitted the SD card slot but was brought back due to popular demand. I would rather an express card (which can be converted to SD) slot over an SD card slot which is a worthless whole in the computer that serves one function, reading SD cards.

I look forward to no optical or removable media. I want my stuff served to me over the internet. I realize it's far from being the norm, but I don't frown on companies building machines getting rid of proprietary removable storage mediums. Who knows how long the floppy would have stayed in machine had Apple not removed it only to hear people bitch and moan about the lack of floppy. (I'll admit it came at an awkward time and really made me bang me head against the desk because the time cd burners were still slow and expensive, and flash storage didn't exist in the consumer space. But this will be another transition just like the last one.)

These 'magical gestures' are called keyboard shortcuts to most of us.  I can do any of your magical gestures with a keystroke, and my real mouse has a ridiculous amount more accuracy than the trackpad.  And you say you move your arm a lot with the mouse?  You have move your entire arm to move around on the trackpad!

Not quite. I use keyboard shortcuts all the time and they are not the same as gestures. I move a finger or two in the smallest of increments and move the cursor across the screen. My arm never moves.

I have had the same computer for 3.5 years now, it's an HP, paid 800$ for it.  My friend ranted about how awesome the macbook pro was, dropped 1800$ and is already on number 2.

yeaaa awesome computer alright, I'll stick with my HP anyday, it works.

werd. I got this computer in 2008, HP dual core for $600. I have dropped it (not too hard), used it for weeks straight running online games (such as darkfall, counter strike), etc,etc,etc... and spend about 6 hours a night on it consistently... does everything I ask, every time.

I don't use a antivirus neither, no problems at all.  I'm actually considering selling this now though to build a desktop for battlefield 3 and skyrim.

My only problem with this is that I can't even run CS, onboard video card is crap

There is absolutely no comparison between HP (unless you are talking Envy which tries to copy) and a Macbook Pro. One is a cheap plastic computer that has a ton of bloatware that hinders the user experience promoting all kinds HP stuff on top of the already archaic OS, Windows. The tracpads are crap, the screens general aren't as vibrant or the nearly same resolution, heavier and bulkier, and less battery life and terrible support in comparison to Apple.

Apple is a premium product that comes at cost. My point isn't HP's are bad machines, which they are not always, but they are only sold because they are cheap and they are in every corner of the retail distribution markets. People buy a Macbook Pro because it's generally best laptop you can buy and given all the subtlies, it makes it the standard to beat for competitors. Again, look at the HP Envy which is a premium machine that still doesn't really compare.

I like HP in the realm of Palm, which they recently bought. The Palm TouchPad is to be released in the summer which will hopefully be a worthy product, for competition sakes.

I don't defend Apple the brand, rather my logic for recognizing it as the best laptop in the industry.

"trackpad" you mean the mouse pad thing right? It's as responsive as my friends mac. Battery life? Believe it or not yesterday morning after 4 years or so of owning the lap top the battery went LOL but I don't even care it stays plugged in 99% if the time (may have caused that problem ) up to the other day the battery could last probably 5 hours on batter saver setting.

As for hindering my experience., I don't know what you mean, if I had a mac, I would have the same experience only my bank account would be down $1000 extra.

I dunno what this means: "the user experience promoting all kinds HP stuff "

Also, what is your problem with windows? On top of that, what is the big problem with vista? I use windows vista and hear nothing but complaints about bugs and etc.  In all my years on it, there hasn't been a single glitch and apparently vista is the worst or somethin.

It's not as big or the same. It doesn't the same gestures or inertial scrolling. It probably seemed the same because the features weren't turned on, the machine wasn't up to date, or weren't aware of how to use gestures within each application.

Are you kidding? I have fixed hundreds of computers in my time both PC's and Mac's. The Mac problems are in large to do user error and hardware failure and bugs within third party software, not OSX itself. I had a PC long before a Mac only to get rid after growing tired of fixing it all the time after looking at porn, p2p file sharing, and regular ole' browsing.

Virtually every credible person in the tech community will agree that Windows is crap and all the new version are still built off tons of legacy code. Whether you can justify a Mac or not is subjective, but Windows being crap and insecure is not. Linux or Mac is really the only the secure way to go.

I go the open source route  Macs are cool and all but I'm a bit of a geek myself and love to be able to tweak shit out plus they charge way too much for their hardware. I got Win XP that I can run in a virtual machine on a Linux platform to achieve a 100% software compatibility in my computer.

It's also possible to get a laptop other than Apple that is not a piece of crap plastic with cheap hardware components and a flexing keyboard. You just have to do some real good research and compare, compare, compare.
