Precision?
    #1399540 - 03/22/03 02:39 AM (14 years, 5 months ago)

They have proved just how precise and efficient thier equipment is.

It requires GREAT precision for two helicopters to hit each other in all that open air space.

6 Britons, 1 American Killed in Collision
Sat Mar 22, 3:49 AM ET

CAMP AS SAYLIYAH, Qatar - Two British Royal Navy helicopters collided Saturday over the Persian Gulf, killing all seven on board including a U.S. Navy (news - web sites) officer, military officials said.

U.K. Copters Collide; 7 Presumed Killed
Pentagon (news - web sites) spokesman Maj. Ben Owens said the U.S. Navy officer was among the seven on board who died. The rest were British.

The two Sea King helicopters were not struck by enemy fire, said Group Capt. Al Lockwood, a spokesman for British forces in the Gulf.

"All those on the helicopters have perished," Lockwood said. "It's a great tragedy."

The helicopters crashed about 4:30 a.m., just after taking off from a ship in the gulf, officials said. The cause was under investigation.

"We do have very careful plans and procedures to ensure we have separation of all the aircraft being used," Lockwood said. "Sadly, last night something was not quite right and we are looking to find out what that was as quickly as possible."

The accident is the second involving coalition helicopters since the U.S.-led campaign began.

Eight British Royal Marines and four American Marines died when their CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter crashed before dawn in Kuwait on Friday.

Lt. Col. Ben Curry, a British Royal Marines spokesman, said that crash occurred as troops were being deployed to seize the al-Faw peninsula in southern Iraq (news - web sites).

Manufactured by AgustaWestland in Britain, the Sea King was developed for the Royal Navy and has been in service for more than 25 years.

There are more than 300 in service with both the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy. They are also used by military in Australia, Egypt, Germany, India and Pakistan.

Is that all you can find to criticize today?
Unfortunately this was probably operator error and had nothing to do with equipment precision.
Get a life.

To me it seems more plausible that all the 'copters were actually shot down; but they dont want to admit that the Iraqi's know how to shoot a gun.

It means that if you can't find something better to criticize then you should find something better to do.

Even the best technology can go awry on occasion. A few missiles out of several thousand is pretty fuckin good if you ask me. I dare any nation to try and do as well.

I thought that this would be about our $200,000 bombs that only have at best 80% success.

Its just kind of wierd that a few days into it and they are already killing themselves!
I would think that that would be worth a mention.

Oh man, you're just full of pride in our ability to kill more efficiently.

these people are proving themselves irrelavent each day...give it time and they'll be wimpering around like french soldiers licking their wounds.

It's interesting to note that we have approx 300,000 coalition and when one person dies they scream "people are being killed!!! ARRRRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!! we're gonna lose!!!!!!"

no shit people are being killed, even in WW2 there were a shit-load of people being killed by friendlies and enemy combatants.

lets assume 30 people are dead, that means .01% of our troops are gone and 99.99% are still around to continue the mission. I'd be happy with them numbers if i were the commanders but still pray for the families that lost soldiers.

I remember you saying that you were an atheist.

Once again, I just think it is wierd that we were less than a week into this when we started killing ourselves.

Don't be so obnoxious about the opinions of others. Your opinion only "seems" to mean something because it is in alignment with a wanna be dictator!
