Nice!! Thanks Larry, was considering chucking it out. Looks kinda of cottony to me, thats was my worries but the first 2 trays have been cased and now i plan to leave them in FC isolated from projects post casing.

Yea man 3n1gm4, lets hope that it is a pin but i cannot be sure as i have cased them right after taking those pics. They will be out by tomorrow into the fruiting chambers. Hopefully i will have pin porn with a nice pin set within a week to show for.

I will take some pics and post them again once they are out from post casing incubation.

My last project fruited but miserably. The yield was just pitiful, one of the initial flush i have from one of the trays.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Its taking quite awhile for my trays to pin after casing. They used to pin within 3-5 days post casing. Right now, its after 8 days & i see only a few pins from 1 tray.... nothing from the other  2 trays yet....

I am misting twice a day and fanning least 3-4 times a day. Anyone thinks that 8 days is too long? Or im just impatient? Thanks Shroomery.

Sup Doc, thanks man, glad to hear... Even the only tray that is fruiting doesn't seem to suggest any decent signs of nice flushes :frown:

I'll be pretty pissed if these trays end up like the last project... whereby i get very miserable yield.

Yea man, trying very hard to get rid of the water droplets by fanning.
The condition of the surface might have something to do with it... Overlay???

My last project had almost the same issues, after getting miserable yields, for like many flushes with only couple of pins, i broke up all the substrate and chunk them out side and covered with some excess unsterilized coir i have.

Just a few days later, i see huge pins and a good number of them, though they have yet to mature. I will post some pics of them up soon.

My single pinning tray are showing some better sign of pining, the other 2 tray has been in the FC for close to 2 weeks and still now sign of pinning activity.

    #14072555 - 03/05/11 07:48 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Thanks man Apu, I will need the luck. Whats getting me jumpy is because of the delayed pinning activity. My last project also have delayed pinning activity and when i finally see pins, just like this time, there are very very few... as such....

I had to chuck out my last project outdoors even though the substrate still look decent, even after many flushes(but with very few shrooms each flush) the substrate's shrinkage is barely visible.
All i did was to break up the substrate from my last project with my bare hands, sprinkled with some non sterilized coir and covered very lightly with dry leaves which i picked outdoors.
I about a week, i went back and checked on them, and they were fruiting waaayyyyy better than what i have initially indoors....

I lifted some of the dry leaves and saw many more pins underneath ,as i have almost no experience growing outdoors, i have no idea if they will mature. They are now covered back up with the leaves, i will post more pics of them, once they grow out from below the leaves.

Back to my first project... I was suspecting that i have a screwed up strain that doesnt flush properly, but this outdoor fluke shows me that this strains does flush decently.

I have many times in the past managed decent flushes indoors, not many factors have change since then, so then, what might be causing this delayed pinning activity and very minimal shrooms on each flush? It has been happening for my last few projects, and the miserable yield is really demoralizing.

Thanks again Shroomery

My indoor trays are still fucked up... With almost no signs of pinning... I am now very tempted to move them all outdoors, after seeing what has happened after i threw out my last failed project.

Here's some updated pics of the most recent outdoor growth from my last project which i "abandon" outside..

Im too disappointed to take photos of my indoor substrate, and there is nothing much to show for even as the indoor trays is approaching its 2nd weed.

I am planning to wait for another week max before moving them outdoors. Maybe Shroom God is pissed of with me for using my bathroom to grow the Holy Cubensis.

I had cakes that were sitting in the FC for over a month without pinning, if you are having that good of results outside maybe you should crumble them and case them in your garden. Or you could just wait and they might not pin at all. Sodium content in your BRF may have something to do with it, they may not be getting enough light, or FAE may be why they are not pinning. Weed out the most obvious first then work your way down. Dont mist too much because if your cakes stay wet then they don't have the right conditions to pin. Mist em good once in the morning and let them evaporate and dry out before misting again before bed would be my suggestion. JMO, I am no expert, just trying to put in :2cents:

Thanks man, i am also trying to figure out if misting is the problem.
I am very tempted to move all the substrate outdoors, but i am also deciding if i should break them down in chunks and move them into other container and try to fruit them again before moving them outside.

Wat do u think? Thanks man.

Bah, this thread is suppose to be about my indoor grow which doesnt seem to be fruiting properly. But i have nothing to show for from my indoors trays which i was expecting good yields, instead the substrate which i abandon outside is fruiting very nicely with some nice fat fruits. I have yet to test the potency, but here some outdoor cubensis pics...

Re: Looks like Cubensis Mycelium to anyone? (Pics) [Re: carbonsteel]
    #14111427 - 03/12/11 09:09 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Finally figured out what might be causing the delayed pinning and very minimal pin set for my recent projects. I might have allowed the spawn to colonized the grain & substrate(coir + coffee) for too long. I have read that spawning can take between 1 week to 3 weeks depending on the ratio and the amount of spawn & substrate used.

For my recent projects, I eyeballed my spawn to substrate ratio at about 1:1. I then allow my spawn (sometimes using MS, sometimes G2G) to colonized for up to 21/2 to 3 weeks before spawning them to substrate for another 3 weeks to make sure that the mycelium has taken hold in the center of the substrate.

By the time opened up to case them, i can see some "mycelium piss" on the surface of the trays.

Could it be that the surfaces of the trays might have formed some kinda "water proof" mycelium mat around the whole substrate as i might have colonized for the spawn or substrate for too long?

Reason i suggested that was because, after i threw out my last project to clear way for my new trays, I noticed that the substrate had barely shrunk. I decided to break up the substrate into smaller pieces to fit them in a garden tray i have outdoors.

Within a week it pinned!! And i did not even paid much attention to the garden tray. Not FAE, misting nothing required.... Just nature.

My current project have gone thru the same process of 21/2 to 3 weeks colonizing of spawn & substrate with about 1:1 ratio, and they have not shown any sign of pinning activity, even after FC for more than 2 weeks.

I got fed up & I decided to experiment with one of my unpinned trays. I broke up one of the trays into smaller pieces and dump them into a basket like tray and cover them lightly on the surface with only leaves i picked outside. I cleaned the leaves with alcohol and covered the pieces of substrate in the "basket tray" with the leaves and left them indoors in a container with some perlite.

Guess what? The next day (about 36 hours later) I already see a few pins...  The other trays which i have not broken up is still showing no sign of pinning activity whatsoever.

I figured that all my trays might have colonized too long and might have formed some sorta "mat" around the surface of the substrate, somehow, minimizing or preventing it to fruit properly. I am planning to break up all the substrate into smaller pieces, hopefully to expose more surfaces allowing it to pin.

Anyone think its a good idea? Thanks Shroomery.

Here are some of the pics, I do not expect very high yield from these broken up substrate. At least they fruited with some pins.

Only if i have basket with slightly bigger holes, i can already see a number of pins pushing against the basket inside.

I have already seen many more pins and hope that more will show tomorrow.. I will post up more pics if there do show.

Most of the pins are covered with the leaves shown in the pics, I lifted the leaves so that i can get a better shot.

Gonna be messy when I try to pick the side pins off this basket. I should probably start with the bottom pins first ^^

I am so pleased... Especially after the last few fucked up projects. Was getting very worried over the miserable yield its providing.

Hopefully, this basket can get me a couple more flushes. I was really getting pissed off at Shroom God for not blessing me with more of his off springs for the last few projects...

All Hail the Holy Cubensis  :bow2:

Sup man 3n1, lol.... thanks for the suggestion... I am planning to harvest the bottom pins first, then side pins, then top pins and then only the babies inside the basket, by taking the chunks of substrate out of the basket and harvesting the shrooms.

Hopefully, i will not have to resort to a strainer.....

Just came back and saw all the pins maturing... The pin set is totally fucked up... But damn!! Those sexy babies made up for the loss ^^

If you live in the USA you can buy a strainer like that for a dollar or two, I would cut the pieces that were strangling the bottom ones so they could get bigger and you could pick them easy when they are ready.:2cents:

More pics from the "ghetto basket". Now i am thinking of harvesting all within a day or 2 and dunk them for a day before leaving them back to FC.

Hopefully they doesnt crap out on me and i can get another flush or 2 outta this basket.
