Can stacking jars inside a pressure cooker make for less effective sterilisation?

If using a 23 quart PC, is it more effective to only use one or maybe two rows of cans? Does stacking them all the way t the top effect anything negatively? Im not really sure how many jars fit in a 23 quart.. Does anyone have any suggestions on what size and how many to fit in there?

RR fits as many as he can without blocking the valves. Thats all you need to worry about is that the release valves are clear.

3 hours in the PC wtf? 30-60 mins for brf cakes, 90 mins for grains. You dont need anymore time in the PC than that or you start to dry out your substrate....

DOn't leave anything in the PC for 160 minutes. Like SP said you will dry out and over cook you substrate, i.e. your PF cakes.

How you going to dry something in an environment saturated with high-pressure steam?
I routinely add 30 mins to PC times for my altitude, with no effects at all. You could certainly do a few hours if you wanted to (no need though).
RR pressure cooks material for 8+ hours at a time, too.

You can stack jars in a PC. What will happen is that it will take much longer for steam to begin venting as you're warming it up. It will also take longer to come up to pressure because you have so much more material to heat up. However, once it's fully up to pressure, you can use the same time. If it's BRF jars, use 1 hour. If quart jars of grains, use 90 minutes, but you don't start the timer until 15 psi is reached.
It should go without saying that when using jars or spawn bags in a pressure cooker, steam should be able to permeate all the way around each substrate. In other words, don't put two large spawn bags up against each other or one on top of the other without a spacer which allows steam to penetrate the gap between them. RR
