Agar to PF transfer?

I am getting started with agar, and currently have some plates from which I am trying to isolate a strain. I am following RR's DVD instructions. When I get to my many different culture strains to fruit out, I would like to use PF jars instead of grain jars. This seems a perfect use for half-pint cheap, fast-to-fruit PF cakes, vs. the same number of large and costly quart grain jars.
Surely I am not the only one who has thought of this. My question is, how do I do an agar to PF jar transfer? If I cut out a piece of colonized agar and open my sterile PF jar to drop it in, I have a top layer of pure verm to deal with.
What do people do? dump out the layer of verm, drop the agar piece onto the brown rice-covered verm, and recover with pure verm? Or maybe sterilize some PF jars without the top layer of verm, and add some sterile verm back after I have dropped in the agar piece? Either way, it seems like too much time for my jars to be uncovered. There's gotta be a good way to do this!

I would think the easiest way to do this would be
Agar>LC>BRF Jar
Isolate on agar, then transfer to LC let that grow out, then use a syringe to transfer that to you PF Jars.

But then I'd have to make 20-30 LC jars. I have made a dozen quart-sized LC jars, and found that installing the self-healing injection ports and gas exchange filters is a fair amount of work.

20-30 LC jars? That will inoculate 100, 10 pound spawn bags. You're doing PF pint jars.
You need to read more.

Huh??? I am isolatng strains, as I said in my original post. This results in many different mycelia that need to be separately fruited in order to determine the best ones.

Simply leave the verm filter off and cut tyvek sleeves or lab coats into filters. Lift the lid and drop the wedge in. Use a glovebox if you don't have a flowhood. RR

If you were going to use a dry verm layer, then the LC would've been necessary, as you wouldn't have been able to get the agar wedge under there in any reasonable sort of way.
Personally, I like LCs. Baby bottle tek FTW.

Yup. I use LCs whenever I possibly can. I've got 7 different mushroom LCs in the frig now.
