    #13990186 - 02/19/11 02:03 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

hi there;

i had a jar which i suppose infected by wet spot bacteria it had gleamsy look and smells really bad

but i cased that grain jar although it smells bad :smile: and i looked now it is germinating again

my question is if i have a chance to get mushrooms from that cased grains will they be harmful to health? or can they be consumed?

thanks

Actual fruit bodies, fruited from contaminated substrates are safe to consume so long as the contamination isn't growing on the fruit body it's self.

It's best not to chance spawning contaminated/fermented grain spawn to a bulk substrate.  Spawning contaminated/fermented grain spawn to a bulk substrate opens vectors for contaminates to infect the substrate, sporulate, thus spreading a tretagillion (<--- a number with 40 zeros behind it) spores through out your home, grow area, and ventilation system.  Ruining future grows and creating possible harm to health.

The best place to dispose of contaminated substrates is in a shady garden area outdoors.  They'll often recover and fruit in nature.  Fruits will be fine.
