My sister has a macbook and she seems to like. I have an asus myself. It's about six months newer than her macbook but it still runs better imo. I don't run a lot of stuff on it though. Mostly internet and the occasional video. She runs all these newfangled math and physics programs for her school.

Macs only have 1 mouse button and they use a button on the keyboard as the second one meaning you have to unnecessarily use 2 hands. Fail. For this sole reason I would never buy a mac

lol no. clearly you have never used a macbook before.
Macbooks have both a left and right click on the trackpad. Left click = tap with 1 finger, right click = tap with 2 fingers. You don't need two hands unless you only have 1 finger per hand. He is talking about a macbook pro as in the laptop, not the desktop computer.

Macbook pros are good, but they are EXTREMELY over priced.
I wouldn't ever buy one unless I got some kind of student discount or something. For the same price you could have several companies build you a laptop that dominates the standard Macbook Pro.
And if you're really worried about the OS getting swamped and slowing down then use a version of Linux.

I was using the button. I never tap the pad because it doesn't pick it up very well. When you press abutton its either pressed or not - when you tap a pad the computer doesn't always recognise it as a tap.

That is a lie, you heard wrong. Macs suck.

If you put 2 fingers on the trackpad then click the button, it counts as a right click. And the tapping picks up just fine on nice trackpads - and that is one thing Apple does right. Nobody in here can argue that Apple trackpads aren't 10+x better than any other ones on the market.

I generally agree. The firmware for macs limit a lot. Also compatibility issues come up for a fair amount of things, though you can double boot with windows, it wouldn't be worth it IMO

I have an asus too... cheap as hell... but I want to smash the fucker some days. They're made in China, which should give you insight into why they suck so much.
Macs on the other hand are way too overpriced but perform pretty well
I've been considering building my own computer from cheaper parts and uploading mac OS onto it, though I'm not sure on the nitty gritty details on how I'll accomplish this.

I'd say that a Mac is probably more stable than a Windows computer.

Linux is more stable. Thats why servers use it.
My other quarm is how they had to make everything in the wrong place so that people have to relearn the GUI. Why not just stick with the basic layout of windows - I mean like keep the close window button in the same place? I just don't see the point in moving it so everyone has to relearn it just to be different because its not more efficient.
I'll stop ranting anyway I just personally didn't like them when I used them but I've always been a PC guy.

"More stable"
I have had the same computer for 3.5 years now, it's an HP, paid 800$ for it. My friend ranted about how awesome the macbook pro was, dropped 1800$ and is already on number 2.
yeaaa awesome computer alright, I'll stick with my HP anyday, it works.

You're talking about Mac OS as if it came it several decades after Windows, and they changed things just for the sake of changing them
You know they were out around the same time right?

Based on what? "Stable" is completely arbitrary. I have a Windows laptop I've been running stable for 5 years. A computer is only as stable as the person behind the keyboard using it generally.
Macs are overpriced crap with all of their proprietary hardware and software, you are pretty much owned by apple. Try and use 3rd party apps or play any games. Nope, stuck using Iphoto, Itunes, IGarage, and Ibeatmymeat. Sure you can load some Windows apps on a mac, but you have to jump through hoops in order to do it. If you are a computer noob that doesn't know the first thing about how to work a computer, and you have too much money and just want something shiny with buttons on it then yeah go ahead and waste your money on a macbook. If you are trying to actually do things and get work done then get a PC. Windows 7 has more features and does more than a Mac OS. If you want more stability then use Linux.

Your asus crashes all the time cause you have managed to get a virus on it.

If you need a platform, that supports "big name" software. And you aren't hardc0re gaemin and/or dont wanna use Windows NT as your main OS. Basically you have 1 option. A Mac.
As for only noobs using Macs. I'm willing to bet there's more knowledgeable people in the Apple camp. Lotta Unix heads use them. Then again, there's the other portion that absolutely despise them.
Personally I like them all. (MS, Apple, Open Source) I use them for different things....
