petri plate fruiting
    #13985073 - 02/18/11 02:30 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

so I have a nice culture that was a MS start, i was in the process of doing isolations and stoped any further work due to lab issues. as i looked in my plate just now, there is a nice fruit still closed cap.
A) can I do an RR clone and just pick it, split the end and put it directly into agar?
B) if i try to keep isolating could this senesces due to the fact that it want to fruit?
also it is on PDYA and i have some more plates ready to go, but should I make some MYEA insted to switch things up?

yes that is a good way to get an isolate, no senescence is not a factor since there has been a short chain of cell divisions since MSG, and no changing agar will do nothing to stimulate that already raging culture.:goodluck:

Sterility is a process that can be likened unto infinity, which is a long walk, the closer to the end you start before beginning, the more achievable  the goal of infinity becomes.  Remember, cleanliness in next to goddessness

Cut and plate...
You want small pieces from a cross section if possible...

Ive transferred G enoki pins off agar to new agar dishes with no problems. The transfer took off growing faster than most other transfers. It isolated well. myc
