Substrate
    #13989091 - 02/19/11 08:50 AM (13 years, 15 days ago)

Does a wet or dry substrate conducts heat effectively? I'm autoclaving saw dust for shiitake bulk and instead of wetting the substrate 1st, im thinking of doing that later in the lab.

Also, at 15psi, how long must one hold? 40 mins? 50 mins? 60 mins?

Hey, no offense but you really should read and follow a tek instead of just making it up.
You'll get better results.

Sawdust/woodchip prep video clip.  You can't just make shit up.  Follow procedures until you learn the ropes and then experiment.  Substrates must be moist during sterilization.

What is your reason for wanting to sterilize dry substrate and then add the water after?
