These statements are both patently incorrect.
If you get mold prior to first flush, it's because the spawn was contaminated and the mold permeates the entire substrate. Simply cutting the sporulating part does nothing but spread the spores. The mold mycelium still remains and will simply sporulate again and again.
There is nowhere near as many mold spores in a dirty apartment before a moldy tray is left in place as there is afterwards when a few trillion trich spores have been plastered all over the walls, ceiling, floors, heating ducts, etc.
Moldy substrates should be tossed out on sight. RR

This didnt go as planned, i had to toss the contaminated bulk because it growed only small and few pins. And yes deladude you were right, mold did come back but in a different spot! First it looked like dry mycelium and then it started to go green. New projects are going so i just have to be more careful next time =). This was first bulk contamination that i have encountered.

Yes i did but i had read that you can try to cut it out and stop mold from spreading if lucky. Because this was my first time contamination i tried to save it.

Yes trich in the early stage (being white) appears very dry. Off topic but when you shake a suspicious grain jar at around 20% colonized, early stage trich and mushroom mycelium almost can be distinguished...If you know you got the moisture content right...Mushroom mycelium will break up more easily when you bang and shake it, trich will be VERY tough to break up. You can't determine 100% what you have by this idea, but it can be a useful tool for an early determination if its suspicious.
-------------------- The mushrooms, which grow only during the season of torrential rains, awaken the forces of creation and produce an experience of spiritual abundance, of an astonishing, inexhaustible constitution of forms that identifies them with fertility and makes them a mediation, a means of communion, of communication between man and the natural world of which they are the metaphysical flesh.
