I couple of bands i had never heard of before, but diffinately is going to find out more about. was clearly born a decade or two too later.

So many people had a hand it in, and it goes back well beyond Stockhausen into the beginning of the 20th century.
There were definitely important people from Germany who have helped shape it, but I don't think anyone could say for sure who started it.

Do you have any sources about German counter culture or psychedelics? I remember reading some book by this guy who lived in a commune in west Berlin during the time of the Berlin wall and it sounded like they had a really far out and politically active counter culture movement going on. It was kinda a response to the fascism of the Nazis and from what I read it seemed to be more radical than the "hippie" movement in America. I would be interested to learn more about German psychedelic culture in th 60's and 70's.
